The last 2 weeks the fruits for me, mostly in Dekalb, have been smaller and fewer, but still largely present.  Instead of finding a cluster or two I am finding 2 to 3 small to medium singles, but I am still finding them consistently. 

I think once the temp highs are above 60F during the next 7 days there will be larger fruits.

i need to go visit my grandparents in dekalb county before the end of the season. i have never seen weilii

I haven't been out in a few days due to hunting season.

Here are a few pics from this mornings hunt, the shaded wet areas seem to have some healthy ones growing. Once I heard gun shots in the distance and seen deer about 40 yds away, I figured it was time to leave. There were plenty around though.

The longer there is no rain the deeper and more shaded the area will be where they are. I have found them as many as 8 days or more after last rain.

Chances are that anything in direct sun will be dead or gone. When you go to one of your locations try to do it about 12:00pm or later. This time is best to look for shaded areas that are still damp. I have found anything in the sun at this time is already dried up, it is best to look two to three days after rain in the sunny areas, otherwise stay away from the sun.

Try to look for a damp area with dead pines, usually you will be battling briars left and right just to get to a good spot. It's well worth the adventure to get into the thick of it.

If you see lots of weeds or ground cover don't spend to much time looking, you may only find one or two in this type of habitat.

Obama is going to fix all of this. His new campaign is not going to be spreading the wealth around, but spreading the weilii around. He will take from those with trash bags full, and give to those that only have a few left, or none. But he is going to make you prove that you spend a number of hours searching each week to qualify.

The easy way one can usually tell is that the branches start really high up, and are usually 90% from the trunk.  Most other pines have branches that start much lower and are usually at a greater/lesser angle (depending on how one looks at it).

the branches are more perpendicular to the trunk. the needles are longer? i think. its easy nthey are funny looking trees

I live in the Paulding/Douglas county area, and I've been looking for the past two days in the woods near my neighborhood, but I've yet to find any P. Weilii in my area. There are a good bit of other mushrooms, but I not quite sure exactly where to look in this type of vegetation. I know near fallen/dead trees is good, and I live near a small pond as well.

Are there any specific indicators I should be looking out for, like other species of mushrooms that are commonly found near weilii? From reading this thread, it's best to go hunting 1-5 days after rainfall, correct? Plus, when searching, should I uplift a bunch of the pine straw/leaves that have fallen in order to find the mushrooms, or will they be visible above?

Any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. =)

I haven't seen any Weilii in about two weeks but the spots I have are mostly in sunny spots. I went by one the other day that I had not checked in about 2 weeks and the ground looked pocked marked with little patches of grass missing. I figured someone had got to my spot before me or is it the other way around. Either way, nothing. Has anyone had luck with a spot where they had spread spores the season before?

weilli shrooms are a myth as far as i'm concerned :mad: Searched the mountains/North Georgia from 11-5 and couldn't find a single one. My luck can't be this bad

But woodland weilii....yeah those are a myth.  I can confirm this lol.

i'm losing my mind. I'm a Georgia native and have yet to experience Weilli. I'm going back to Jackson county this weekend. It seemed promising. Any idea on when the season will end and if the cold is scaring the weilli away?
