AA PC worth it?

Hey all, I have a friend who is willing to sell me a near-new All-American 915 15qt pressure cooker for 115$. Is this worth the price? If not, where can I find reasonably priced AA cookers (or a similar, high-quality variety)?

you only need a pc if you are interested in becoming serious with this hobby...........I would go larger, that 15qt does not hold 15 qt jars, not sure how many but it would be a good start.

Presto 23-Quart Aluminum Pressure Cooker/Canner

I have had this model for years,,,Works just as good as an AA and is 85 bucks shipped,,,,I can not give you the sight(non vendor) but if you search with that exact name the sight will pop up

AA is top of the line. Presto is 'second best' or at least second most popular but quite a bit cheaper esspecially for the larger sizes.

:thumbup: right on the money.  You'll want the 23qt size because it can hold 10qt jars, which is what you'll want for bulk grows.

The All-American 915 15qt holds 7qts. How many does this Presto hold?

an AA will last longer then you, your kids, and your kid's kids.

also, i think the prestos are made out of machined aluminum, which is something i don't feel comfortable with personally.

I have had my presto 23 quart for around 2 years and have never had any problems.. It's nice cause you can squeze 10 quarts of spawn in it.  My next PC will be one of these.

You could get an AA 921 on amazon [21 qt.] for 199.00, otherwise, for a comparable cost, I'd still opt for the AA over the Presto to start.  It will still do seven quarts, which is not something to sneeze at. It will last forever with reasonable care.  If you need more space later, you can look for another AA or get a Presto then for the "big grows". Remember, you can run two PC's at once. Personally, I'd take a 15 qt. AA over a 23 qt. Presto any day. Remember, these things are BUILT.

I think I'm going to get a 23qt Presto. From what you guys have said, it sounds pretty durable and efficient.

Does Presto use a rubber seal?

they are made out aluminum, which is not all that durable, and they use gaskets, which crack and break over time, even if you treat them the right way.

spend the extra 30 bucks if you are really concerned about durability.

AA is hands down the most durable PC on the market.

Efficiency is my main concern right now. Once I've had a few successful harvests I'll probably invest in an AA.

Will a Presto do the job?

yes, it will do the job fine. but if you plan on getting an AA in the future? why spend the 80 bucks now for an inferior product?

if you do get a presto, make sure you treat the gasket well and follow all the instructions to the T. they aren't very forgiving.

Yeah. the Presto uses a rubber seal, which WILL need to be replaced. The AA is the only line left on the market that doesn't. Get it, and you won't have to spend any more on it for years, if ever. It's beautifully engineered and even has solid resale value.

Tell you what,,,Yes they use a rubber gasket,A replacement is $15.

However if your worried about durability go with the PRESTO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have used the crap out of mine with ZERO problems,,,,Put it this way if the thing some how breaks down in 5 years which I know it wont you can buy another one that will last you just as long and your still at less then what an AA cost.............

Presto makes a great product at a great price......Hands down go for what you want but presto is where the moneys at:grin::thumbup:

Once again I have had mine for years,,,,Never once have I ever treated the gasket,,,,not saying you shouldn't just pointing out that you do not"HAVE" to.
