shaking grain jars-a trivial but handy tip 1

RR has his bike tire, and I've used rolled-up magazines etc., but I tried something that works really well and is very handy. Just take a liter size soda bottle, fill it with water right to the top, put the top back on and pound away. Like I said, trivial, but it works great and you can really go to town on those dense clumps.

That is a simple and useful tip, never thought of that.
But the downside is you don't get to feel all manly with painful bruised palms.

Glad you all like It really works better than anything I've tried. I put the bottle on my knee and pound away. It has just the right give and the energy transfers to the jar very well

I'm always looking for new ways to break up stubborn jars. But placing the bottle on your knee? Be careful soldier!!!

The first one who has the 2 liter bottle break on them, please PM me. I'm sure it will be a
 day for me.

I second this... I was using a duct tape roll and had a jar explode... I figured it was a fluke/weak jar so I did a second one... same thing... I ended up picking the biggest chunks up off the floor and spawned them to a monotub WBS, poo, shards of glass, blood and all... No contams though so i guess i was lucky. Since then i've been reluctant to do anything other than beat the hell out of my hand.
