Two die at 'The Secret' author's Sedona Ceremony.

Correction: James Arthur Ray did not write 'The Secret, but was a major contributor to the movie and lectures on using principles from 'The Secret'. He has also written two spin-off books, 'Quantum Creation' and 'Harmonic Wealth'.
Just can't make this shit up folks.
Red Rock News
CNN
James Arthur Ray, author of 'The Secret' charged people $10,000 per head for a five day seminar on 'Becoming a Spiritual Warrior', included a sweat lodge ceremony, among other events in a retreat in Sedona, Arizona.
Angel Valley Resort advertises itself as "a place to relax and heal ... where powerful earth energies are present and active." It was founded in April 2002 by Michael and Amayra Hamilton, both of whom are teachers and counselors there.
The resort is on 70 secluded valley acres 20 minutes from Sedona, surrounded by thousands of acres of national forest, according to the Web site. It has Internal Revenue Service nonprofit status as a religious organization, its Web site says.
"There are twenty marked vortexes and angel sites to experience connection with Earth and spirit, deep relaxation, and balancing," an online brochure says. "Angel Valley offers two labyrinths and an Angel Wheel for going inward, finding answers and getting insights."
Was he Native American? No. Was he qualified to do such a ceremony? No. Did he put too many trusting folks in too small and hot a place? Yes. Was he a greedy fucker preying on the gullible? Of course!
Let's see: two dead, 10 hospitalized and another 11 requiring medical treatment from heat stroke, heat prostration and dehydration.
Authorities want to question Mr. Ray, but alas he has left the state. Maybe he is hiding in a 'Secret' place so as to avoid the coming charges of negligent homicide.
Did these people learn a secret or perhaps not to trust their health to a charlatan.

Poor James must have had a really negative attitude to bring that about...

There are real reasons why I am such a hard-ass on these types of con-men.
Naturally, I am always the 'bad guy'; the evil skeptic with the negative attitude, but a constant vigil is needed.

The real reason this happened, is because you have such strength of conviction that you attract events to happen before you even need them to! Not only that, but you brush aside the convictions of 22 believers in the process.
Damn OC, I might start bowing.

So he was using the "Law of Attraction" to attract bad karma because inside he knew he had fallen off the path and gone to the dark side and needed a 'wake-up' call?

I did not want to say it, but I had to conjure something up to show JasonVira not to question me and then laugh.
I suppose I could have come up with something less dramatic, but the whole event is such incredible self-parody that The Universe is having a major fucking belly laugh at Ray's expense. Sometimes the Genie don't like have his lamp rubbed too often.

More than 50 participants entered a makeshift structure where hot stones created intense heat. Rituals in sweat lodges are a common Native American purification practice intended to raise the body temperature to somewhere between 102 to 106 degrees. Participants should leave when the heat becomes too intense. However, after a week of brainwashing about pushing past “self-imposed” borders, human instinct was overridden by orders from a great guru.
James Ray is one of the hottest new self-help gurus – featured on Oprah, Larry King Live and The Secret – who has only become more popular during the last year’s economic uncertainty. Ray preaches that it is only our negative attitude and negative energy that holds us back from true wealth.
Well, at least Ray will have plenty of tainted money to spend on lawyers.
Greed And Woo Kill Two In AZ In Arizona news, today A tale involving James A. Ray— As seen on Oprah, he’s the man Who tells us all, that Yes! We can! Can make more money! Gain more wealth! Can grow our spirit, mind, and health! Create the life of which you dream! He’s hit a speed bump, it would seem. He hosts a lodge, where people meet At his Sedona health retreat His guests lined up—they chose to pay Perhaps nine thousand bucks to stay And join with other open minds And other guests of many kinds (I’ve seen his website—all you need, To wish to join this group is… greed.) At Angel Valley, host James Ray Was with the others, there today, Inside a sweat lodge, close and hot, Where people learn what they have got— A journey of the spirit, and The mind—at least, that’s what was planned. A leap of faith; a show of trust; They’d brave the sweat-lodge if they must; And when they started feeling funny, Concentrated on the money. Like Oprah’s “Secret”, here you’ll find Success is found inside your mind— Mind over matter! Just be tough! You’ll win, if you are strong enough!
With sixty-four shut tight inside A score fell sick, and two have died.

What's the big deal? Two of them got lucky and got treated to a real spirit journey. Talk about getting your money's worth! This Ray guy must have extraordinary powers.

If you got $10,000 to spend on a sweat lodge ceremony that is $10,000 you don't need....or possibly even deserve.

This is an interesting story. I've sat in several sweat lodges and never have they been completely sealed and airtight as people have claimed his was. If I was in that ceremony I would of bailed the moment that dude tried to seal it.
Also they said there were 55-65 people sitting in the ceremony? That's ridiculous! I have never been in a sweat lodge ceremony with more than 10 people.
I just read an article this morning that released the posts Ray made on twitter the day of the ceremony which he deleted after the tragedy occurred. This is nuts check out his deleted tweets...
"The Spiritual Warrior has conquered death and therefore has no enemies, and no fear, in this life or the next," he wrote in one.
In another he wrote: "... for anything new to live something first must die. What needs to die in you so that new life can emerge?"
