By the time you are dead, your anxiety will be zero. We could probably plot this curve on an XY axis.

That's why I consider death as an "ace in the hole". It still scares some part of me however. Ego attachment.

Lets take a couple steps back because, from what I'm reading, most of you don't understand the definitions of debate/argument.
Lets take a moment to examine them and other relevant definitions to this discussion:

DEBATE: "Debate or debating is a formal method of interactive and representational argument. Debate is a broader form of argument than logical argument, which only examine the consistency from axiom, and factual argument, which only examine what is or isn't the case or rhetoric which is technique of persuasion. Though logical consistency, factual accuracy as well as some emotional appeal to audience are important elements of the art of persuasion, in debating, one side often prevails over the other side by presenting superior "context" and/or framework of the issue, which is far more subtle and strategic."

AXIOM: "In traditional logic, an axiom or postulate is a proposition that is not proved or demonstrated but considered to be either self-evident, or subject to necessary decision. Therefore, its truth is taken for granted, and serves as a starting point for deducing and inferring other (theory dependent) truths."

ARGUMENT: "In logic, an argument is a set of one or more meaningful declarative sentences (or "propositions") known as the premises along with another meaningful declarative sentence (or "proposition") known as the conclusion. A deductive argument asserts that the truth of the conclusion is a logical consequence of the premises; an inductive argument asserts that the truth of the conclusion is supported by the premises. Deductive arguments are valid or invalid, and sound or not sound. An argument is valid if and only if the truth of the conclusion is a logical consequence of the premises and (consequently) its corresponding conditional is a necessary truth. A sound argument is a valid argument with true premises."

Fallacies and non arguments:
"A fallacy is an invalid argument that appears valid, or a valid argument with disguised assumptions. First the premises and the conclusion must be statements, capable of being true and false. Secondly it must be asserted that the conclusion follows from the premises. In English the words therefore, so, because and hence typically separate the premises from the conclusion of an argument, but this is not necessarily so. Thus: 'Socrates is a man, all men are mortal, therefore Socrates is mortal' is clearly an argument (a valid one at that), because it is clear it is asserted that that 'Socrates is mortal' follows from the preceding statements. However 'I was thirsty and therefore I drank' is NOT an argument, despite its appearance. It is not being claimed that I drank is logically entailed by I was thirsty. The therefore in this sentence indicates for that reason not it follows that.
Often an argument is invalid because there is a missing premise the supply of which would make it valid. Speakers and writers will often leave out a strictly necessary premise in their reasonings if it is widely accepted and the writer does not wish to state the blindingly obvious. Example: All metals expand when heated, therefore iron will expand when heated. (Missing premise: iron is a metal). On the other hand a seemingly valid argument may be found to lack a premise – a ‘hidden assumption’ – which if highlighted can show a fault in reasoning. Example: A witness reasoned: Nobody came out the front door except the milkman therefore the murderer must have left by the back door. (Hidden assumption- the milkman was not the murderer).
"

You Chronic are extremely guilty of making disguised assumptions like; I am conscious and read books there for I'm an expert in 'self' OR Following some one's teachings will get you  closer to enlightenment/make you more awake OR That you can get, or even need some one to show you the 'path' to enlightenment/awake/whatever... ect. Take your memes to the M&P section, they really don't belong here, which by the way(incase you forgot) is why this thread was started.

Now for a little clarification on those definitions.

The vast majority of valid arguments posed, especially in science but not usually in mathematics, are Inductive in nature. Hence the whole point, the end-all-be-all of the argument, is not to prove ANYTHING. They are merely supporting a conclusion with valid premises, therefore validating the conclusion. Examples would include the theories of evolution, heliocentricity, plate tectonics, etc.

Debate is just a broader string of arguments and is, depending on the forum in question, not always subject to the same rules as arguments. Those rules are to be decided by the forum or who ever runs it. Debating is more clearly focused on how the information is presented and not usually so much on the accuracy and validity, even though those are usually both still very important.

 'i am conscious' who here isn't?

What im talking about is not in any book anywhere, its in you.
You can read about it in books, but the books can't realize it for you.
The best books tell you to put down the book & realize yourself.

Lock me up & throw away the key if you like, if i was really so 'guilty' of abusing the forum im sure a mod would have sorted me out by now...

The fact is what i talk about is philosophy, BUT practiced, it goes way beyond philosophy, beyond any mental clingyness, so of course some minds will be repelled by it. Theres plenty of posts here to read, so if you see 'Chronic777' just keep on walking

Whatever you said in your post doesn't change the fact that philosophy is just theory, therefore debatable, if it was purely evidential there would be nothing to philosophize or debate about, philosophy might aswell be called 'speculation' if it isn't practiced or actually LIVED

Thats the whole point of it no? To understand LIFE & fully LIVE it?

Not just spectate & speculate about it...

Ok, go ahead. Reject and pervert the definitions of the words you use.

No one said you broke forum rules. We merely stated(or at least my point was) that your type of discussion is useless here. Completely and utterly useless.

It furthers nothing but your own ego, or sense of control(i.e. religion) and anyone who wants to suspend their own cognitive function to believe in your unsupported beliefs. It's not furthering the discussion of philosophy, its not furthering the discussion of psychology, its not furthering the discussion of sociology. Its speculation and conjecture in the worst form, many times removed from anything that could be considered even slightly academic. Its a god damn dead end.

Debate does not require evidence and evidence itself can be debated, BUT debate DOES and always has required sensible arguments to be made that are not PURELY based on assumptions.

Your "thoughts" are not "your's". You don't own them, you certainly aren't the first person the have them. AND MOST OF ALL THEY CHANGE ALL THE TIME AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT. They are completely subjective when all you do is speculate and have nothing to support them. If you knew anything of philosophy, you'd understand that you don't just magically have thoughts... you think because of something and that something shapes your thoughts. Any modern philosopher will go to great lengths to try and find support for his claims beyond his own consciousness, or at least explain in logical fashion why his view might be true. The fact that you do neither and claim to be philosophizing is ludicrous.

And... "what you are talking about" is in plenty of books, most of them "self-help". That doesn't mean I think you read or know about all those books, but you had to start somewhere, you didn't just spring into existence with knowledge. Or better yet you didn't just magically come to the realization of something "higher". Something prodded you to think this way and the very fact that you act like there wasn't this meme put in your head further supports how completely irrelevant your "thoughts" are to testimony or evidence or are helpful in regard.

Finally: All thoughts usually start out as speculation. But upon further review, if they don't hold some merit, they are discarded just as quickly as they came, and not held onto like a poor man's religion. Further more, if that merit can not be duplicated to a likely degree (for example, better then a coin toss), it is morally devious to try and spread it.

You want some sources? Go read anything Daniel C. Dennett has ever wrote. Hes a world renowned, and modern, philosopher.

Why shouldn't one be held responsible, if they are spreading their thoughts, to be both thinker and prover? or at least make some honest attempt to be a prover...
