Pressure Cooker question...
    #11065993 -

I was given an old pressure cooker, one identical to the one in this listing:
http://www.hydroponicsonline.com/store/Vintage-Home-Deluxe-20-Qt-Pressure-Cooker-Canner-NICE_310154967149.html
The guy said it needed new hardware on top, including the gauge and the seal.  I got it home, and upon closer inspection this thing is all pitted on the outside.  Need to oil the locking devices, and inspect inside of this thing a little better.  B+, Golden Teacher syringes in the refrigerator, and a Oak Ridge print on top the fridge (thanks to The Shroomy 1) so am hoping to get the ball moving. Not worth messing with? Worth the hassle?

You could just do some Pf cakes and Steam Sterilize them in a pot with a tight fitting lid. Thats the good thing about the PF no need for a Pressure cooker. All thoe i use mine for everything

I have one quite similar and love it. But good condition is of course important.  Pics would help, but what you say does not sound promising.  I hope you didn't spend too much.  OTOH, a little bit of pitting, and I mean a little, is not going to necessarily ruin it for you. Does it seal well?  If you need alot of parts, keep in mind that a new All American 21 qt. can be had at around 230 dollars.

The PC was free, dropped off at my front door.  Needs new seal, valve, and gauge.  Possibly nuts.  Who knows.  Just wondered if it might be worth fixing.  Looks like it got left outside for some time.  P.O.S.

I'd get it checked by a machine shop before I went any further.

Yeeeea, that'd be a pretty sweet score, but I don't think it's worth risking serious injury to body and home.

Hell, it's probably be worth getting check out though...even still then, i'd be worried, and would PC behind a blast door, hehe.

dude, forget the machine shop i mean common, you want to pay someone that will clearly tell you that its a dangerous thing to build pressure in ?  as for parts , i shopped around online and just the pressure regulater weight can go up to 20$ before shipping n handling, i went to a local store and got a 21 quart for 86$ taxe included with new hardware everything, shop around because for sure youll get something somewhere for either the same price as all new hardware, or a little more and at least it'll be safe and everything will be new and under a limited time gaurantee.

to each his own, be careful with that thing.

machine shop, where do you come up with this? you can clearly see metal has been eaten away by rust thus entirely ruining the PC'S capacity to maintain any kind of internal pressure.  machine shop, hey go see your mecanic with this thing while your at it  lol
