pressure cooker question.. ? Sterility question..
    #1290191 -

I just got ahold of a new 12qt pressure cooker, brand new for 30$, i was wondering, when you are pressure cooking 1/2 pint jars, do they all have to be on the bottom or can you use the "rack" thing. The "rack" thing makes it so you can fill the bottom of the cooker, then put the rack down and stack more jars. Will this still sterilize them properly?

Thank you.

that rack may be to keep the jars off the bottom. you can stack jars without a rack. i would use that rack on the bottom.

Why would they have a rack for the bottom? In the manual it said its for puttin them inbetween stacks. A dog i know cooked his already and he said that nothing happened to the glass and it looks like there is still moisture in the 1/2 pints jars.
THanks.

The bottom rack is to prevent the lower portion of the jars from cooking too much and drying out. Remember: you are cooking them with pressurized steam, not direct heat! Hope it works out for you ...

I bought it at walmart. 30$

Hmm shit, so if i pressure cooked it with the jars on the bottom without the "rack" then you think my shit will be fucked up and too dry? There was like 1 inch of water in there at the time, and when i took em all out there was still a good layer of water/. Thank you.
