pressure cooker question
    #355158 - 07/15/01 01:04 PM (21 years, 10 months ago)

I just picked an old Presto #7 at a yard sale today for $6. The canner basket touches the bottom of the pressure cooker. I thought that the basket is supposed to be somewhat elevated off the floor of the pressure cooker. Do I need to throw something inbetween the floor and basket to raise it? I doubt it is high enough on its own to keep the jars from over cooking/burning. Please advise.

As long as the jars are not DIRECTLY ON the bottom of the pressure cooker it should be fine. I have a little aluminum tray that only raises the jars about half an inch above the bottom. I've also used just a wash cloth which only raises the jars a couple of milimeters off the bottom.

I don't care about jack shit, I just wanna pick my nose!!!

Thanks. I would haved thanked youz twoz earlier but I had been unable to access a computer for a couple days.
The rack only raises the jars 1-2 millimeters. I didnt even think of using a washcloth. I'd have a cool story for fellow shroomerites but you know you can't have too much personal info floating around there.
Peace/peices.
