This study by the Global Consciousness Project at Princeton University looked at how the events of September 11, 2001 could have impacted the global consciousness.

Its kind of long and mathematical, so here's the gist:
They set up numerous random data generators all around the world. They analyzed the degree of correlation among the independent random data generated in and around the time of the terrorist attacks and discovered a notable "anomalous interaction driving the eggs to non-random behavior." They noticed anomalous results with an odds ratio of 1000 to 1 if it happened by chance. They concede that such results could indeed have occurred randomly, but the fact that it was so closely timed to the terrorist attacks is interesting if nothing else.

You probably also like the book "The Bible Code". There are many fun ways to play with numbers and letters to attempt to extract meaning from them, but does not mean that there is any inherent correlation or underlying message.
