Re: Does Spirituality/Introspection also Experience a "Coming and Going"? [Re: showme]

without spirituality we are just animals. life becomes meaningless, there is no point to living.

What a load of crap. However I do agree that we are "just" animals.

Spirituality is just another aspect of death anxiety IMO. There is really no evidence of "spirit". Except for true believers who don't know how to interpret their psychedelic experiences that is.:satansmoking:

Did you feel like he was trying to push it on you?

I love how Icelander went from admitting the existence of the formless Tao, then says that 'spirit' is a load of crap...

Thats not a poke at you, i really love how it happened

The Tao is practical logic IMO. It's undefinable and beyond understanding and has nothing to do with "spirit" as far as anyone can tell.

The Tao has some good verses related to seeking the 'one'. But don't let Christians interpret that for ya'.

If you'd look to see that Tao is what you actually are, not icelander or john or whatever, then you would understand the spirit aspect of it, spirit must be something non-physical, formless, indefinable

Like the Tao, that is what you are, how could you be anything else?

I don't see how you came to this conclusion, seeing as all life is necessarily meaningless. Do you think everyone's life is tragic?

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

Seeing life is meaningless is like having the whole weight of the universe thrown off... it only seems depressing to the mind when subconsciously it starts to see that no object will ever totally satisfy it

But when you see that no objects will satisfy, you start to question if you are an object yourself...if all objects come & go & something eternal remains, can i be other than that?

The only assertion I made there was that all life is meaningless, and I didn't even present any reasoning for this. Where is the logical fallacy?

I am an object, and use other objects for enjoyment, like cocaine for example! :rail:

Are you asserting that we are not objects, but rather merely some sort of mystically eternal 'isness'?

Life is tragic when it is meaningless
All life is meaningless
Therefore, All life is tragic.

I don't think life is tragic when it's meaningless, that's what showme said. I also don't think that all life is tragic. I do, however, know that all life is objectively meaningless. :smirk:

Thanks for the religious thinking, I certainly need to hear more of that.

The Tao is energy if anything and cannot be created or destroyed. Spirit on the other hand was created by you and destroyed by me.

Agreed, and IMO spirituality is a (bunch of) feeling, just like God is a feeling. It's all in our heads, nothing we feel is outside of it.

Having said that, I see no reason why I should not push my psychedelic exploration until I obtain that feelings, and "meet God" as they say.
