ok I know I can find this info somewhere but is is just too damn hard to search and search.
How does a maoi inhibitor work? Chemicaly, physicaly?
Are they safe? Can they turn 1g into 3g's? So is it just magic?
There are natural maoi inhibitors do you think I can find them around town like a head shop or health store or do I have to get em online?
Anybody have any strong feelings one way or the other?
Does it change the trip, do you feel diffrent?
Any other usefull info would be great. My friend has a low dosage of shrooms and thinks that Maoi is the direction to go. -thanks

www.erowid.org How does it work, find it at erowid. Is it safe, yes, if you avoid a list of foods listed at erowid. No can't turn 1 grams into 3, it's more like 2 grams, and no it's not magic. There are natural maoi inhibitors, and I'm not sure if you can buy them at head shops. You definitely can buy them online. I've used them twice, and it was great, it's definitely worth it. Of coarse it changes the trip, it about doubles the potentcy, not the duration. Any other questions you have and be found at erowid, www.lyceum.org, www.google.com

I recently got a passionflower extract at a local shop to help me out with my chronic headaches, but after a wile I realized that this was a MAO-inhibitor. So far I've only tried it with pot and it definitely worked. I experienced more of a trippy feeling than I usually do.
But the little 'booklet' that was with the bottle didn't say anything about avoiding any kind of food. Does this just mean that it was a really weak extract or....?

well it depends on how much was extracted. You can take 3 grams of syrian rue(peganum harmala) to get the same amount of MAOI as 2-3 ounces of passionflower.

heh... well, ya won't tend to find and MAOi in a diet pill, OK??? most diet pills have something vaguely like amphetamine in them... the veryfew MAOi chems that you find as prescription drugs tend to be prescribed as antidepressants (nardil, marplan, mocloblemide... not very common these days...) of course, the diet pills (and decongestants, and antihistamines, and other pil;ls of various stripes) have wwarnings AGAINST taking them with MAOIs (generally to avoid a hypertensive crisis --- that's like your BP jumping to 300 over 225 --- a quick trip to the blow-out stroke scene...) many of the 'scrip MAOIs last for several days... most of the herbal MAOIs are mostly harmine, which tend to wear off over like 12 - 24 hours or so... it's not that hard to read up on these things at places like www.erowid.org & www.lycaeum.org ya know whattamean?
