damn green. pasturize or sterilize

every time my friend uses coco coir he get the green around the 2nd flush. he does the pitcher filled w perlite and a strong mixture of water and h2o2 w a air pump running to the bottom. he has clean out his terr. and closet w lisol after he got it. what he does w the coir is boils some water turn off, chuck in a chunk of coir lets expand for an hour with the lid on. never had a prob befor with jiffy but once. should he maybe pressure cook some coir or just try different casing mixture. he just reall like the coir, easy to use. that DAMN green!! any ideas? thanks

Some brands of coir are actually treated with live trichoderma, make sure he's not using one of them.
Straight coir is relatively acidic which favours trichoderma, add some chalk or lime to balance the pH.

well that is good to know. he never would thought that some was treated with that. he just found some cheap reptile stuff, not the forrest bed. it was buy 2 get 2 free. might try a different brand. hes got some lime also. thats for that heads up zeta.
