yeah, you go into a family doctor and tell him you have anxiety and it alienates people, The only thing that's going to get him to think "benzos" Is frequent, uncontrollable panic attacks.

I did this once, thought something to block the anxiety, used proactively by putting myself in stressful social situations would help condition me.

Doctor didn't want to hear my plan, he just wanted to know how often i had panic attacks. I had one. a week prior, it's what made me decide to act.  But in avoidance of panic attacks i constructed a way of life that is rock-solid.  I have a huge potential, squashed by an intricate life of avoidance.

He said what he thought i needed was to speak to a psychotherapist.

What a waste of a professional opinion.  Psychotherapy does nothing for me. I'm like Hannibal Lechter.  I may have social anxiety, but one-on-one I'll control the situation, you'd never know there was something wrong.
Ive wasted hundreds of dollars talking to credible and acclaimed experts. Councilors and psychotherapists.
I still can't see how that shit is supposed to help.

When i read your post i knew right away the doc was going to suggest a therapist and MAYBE drop some SSRIs on you.

Good luck with that Zoloft, I was taking that stuff for a bought of depression years ago and it gave me some very unpleasant side effects.
And it ultimately caused the end of a very valued relationship.
Basically, it would not let me cum, although I was hard as a rock and was fucking this girl for literally hours, I still could not cum. And my girl thought it was me not being attracted to her and that killed the relationship.
I will never take another SSRI again as long as I live.
Best of luck to you and your situation.
Peace.

Yeah man, I have had a really shitty libido since I have started taking it. I have had insomnia the past 3 nights, the drug isn't even fully in me yet, and I am noticing my anxiety is beginning to skyrocket. Someone in my family was on zoloft for anxiety problems, they had a really bad reaction to it after a week, really bad panic attacks. They immediately were prescribed xanax and klonopin after that.

I don't know, I am going to go to the therapy to try to help myself, although I am doubtful it will help me, and when I go back to the medical doctor, I will say I don't want to take that crap anymore, and I don't want anymore antidepressants. That will kind of narrow his choice down on what to prescribe me. I need anti anxiety medication for fuck's sake, not fucking anti depressants.

i read your post, OP

I think you are not handling your situation well, and it sounds as if you pictured scripts as the cure before you even saw the doc

you described the condition and the doctor gave you the standard medicine, but you knew he would.

you're avoiding your problem

I think you have a social phobia, you're not confident or you're just a drug addict.

you said you work out, thats great, try reducing your intake of chemicals/fats like nicotine caffeine and such too.

my advice: stop being reclusive, get some sun/air/nature, most important for you, find people to talk to even if its chatter. coworkers, classmates, the lady at the grocery store, people at the gym.

make some friends, they will like you. you are just as interesting as them, break the seal.

zoloft is not the answer. enslavement to the pharm companies is no way to go. there is no consolidation or happiness to be found at the bottom of a script bottle. only numbness, how is your situation any different because your now on a pill?

life is hard for everyone and the great times would be meaningless if there was nothing to compare them too

you create your life, only you are responsible for yourself.

Well, the zoloft gave me suicidal behavior. I had 6 beers, ate 40-50 0.5mg klonopins, 30-40 50mg tramadols, had respitory failure at one point. I lived though. Then I got locked up in a mental hospital for a few days, 72 hours. The punk ass psychiatrist wouldn't prescribe me benzos so I was like kthxbye discharge plz.
