I seek the truth, truth is everywhere, no person, no religion, no book, no group has a monopoly on the truth. I'll get it wherever I can find it. I don't have to choose between my relationships and the truth, there are truths in my relationships, they cannot be seperated. Life is a packaged deal.

Dammit! You're telling me that Truth? is actually attainable? I thought I'd always be stuck asking questions.
Well... since you know that there is some sort of absolute truth (implied in your post... if it's attainable, it must be concrete), then you MUST have it. Give it to us, kind sir.
Note: I do have a small savings set aside for emergencies. But I'd be willing to spend it all on this Truth? if the price was reasonable.

"I believe that words like "honesty," "truth," "forthrightness" have a place in our world which drowns itself in falsehood after falsehood."
what do you mean exactely?

If you're trying to use the Socratic method... that's fine, I'll play along.
If you're just being dramatic, I'm gonna rip into you. (Note: I'm only warning you because, historically, you've been fragile.)

Some of us are honorable and try to govern ourselves, to be honest, truthful and forthright. Unfortunately, honesty, truthfulness and forthrightness (?) are not always considered 'politically correct.' In other words, people would rather be lied to with a smiling face than to be told they are...

I value honesty highly. I generally don't 'cotton' to people who tell me what they think I want to hear or put on facades. But then, I never feel comfortable lying myself and prefer that people know where I stand.

A surviving masochist knows when to say "when." Fair enough.
I mean this: These words "honesty, truth, etc" are words in our dictionary because they have meaning.
1. So you do not acknowledge limits in our language? If our means of communication (language) was perfect, we would have no use for analogies.
2. The fact that words (and language) were arbitrarily chosen (and then evolved- still not perfect though) lends credence to the view that it is possible that some words now hold different values than they originally held.
Think of this... I'm a caveman. I make up a word for the "magical" overnight appearance of "cold, white stuff that turns to water when you touch it long enough". Let's call this word "glizzumob". Well, soon the entire tribe begins to use this word in everyday language. Then one night one of the more inquisitive tribesmen stays up all night. Just before sunrise, he sees how all this white stuff appears... it falls from the sky. He tells the others that the white stuff (given the name "snow") doesn't just "appear" "magically"... no, the snow falls from the sky. Well, some of the tribe bother to stay up and see the snow fall... and they agree that "glizzumob" is not an accurate term to describe the event. But it doesn't matter anymore... the rest of the tribe is so used to using saying "glizzumob" that they keep right on using it, much to the chagrin of the inquisitive (read: informed) tribesman.

Truth is always here. Seeing that it is here, is something people in general don't do.
Beeing the part is more important to me then beeing the ego based reactor. As a reaction to your conlusion that we all seek the same truth as you describe we need to choose between as which one is most important.

I'm not sure. I haven't smoked in 5 months... 3 months actual clean-up time, 2 months filling out job applications, interviews, and pissing in cups (no hair tests yet). I guess I would do it every so often if I didn't have to worry about drug tests.
There are many meanings of words that have changed over time But is Honesty, or Truth one of them? it seems to me Honesty still means the same thing it would have anytime...
Is a "little white lie" considered a lie? Many would say no.
And truth... yeah, I gotta rip into that. Truth has taken on an absolute connotation... which is weird because it seems that most "truths" have changed as time goes on.
