they should make a sequal to Enter the Dragon and call it Enter the Fool...and you could star as the Fool.

Your statements are quite childish in thinking.

I certainly hope so. Children... little buddhas.

There is a reason why humans do what they do. There is a reason why we feel things, why we don't feel things, etc.

Now you make me curious... could you give me an example? Could you be so kind as to think of a person you dislike (that is, a person you had personal contact with, not Bin Laden) and then tell me exactly why you dislike that person? And remember to tell me the truth, and nothing but the truth. Be careful. Think about it, and find out the true reason... true reason... true reason... [echo fading into infinity]

A. You find yourself disliking people

Of course I do! What you mean with "find myself" dislike people? There are people whom I fucking dislike, plain and easy. I ignore those people. I dislike them so much that even hate would grant them too much respect.

B. You don't question it anymore because it's too much labor.

I don't question it anymore, that's probably right. But I don't know the reason for that. Every part of a sentence that begins with "because" is a lie, unless in a mathematical context.

The truth is, you only need to shut the fuck up to experience it. Any bullshit philosophy just drags you away from it and leaves you running around in circles. It's not something that can be told only realised.

while at other times I might be driving and dislike the speed another car is driving at (thus I dislike the driver).

That's a good example, actually.

You dislike the driver because of the speed he drives at? That's not true. There are some days when you drive a car and someone else drives at a certain speed, and you dislike him. But then there are other days where you are in exactly the same situation, but you do not dislike the other car driver... you do not care about him or the speed he drives at. Thus, it is obvious that the true reason why you dislike the first car driver (but not the second) is NOT the speed he drives at.

Now try a little harder. Look deeper. Try to find out the TRUE reason why you dislike that person.

Then tell me.

If I have a problem with someone I assure you there is always a reason

I don't claim the opposite. I'm arguing that any reason you come up with is a lie. I never said there is no reason.

Enter, I started a new thread, so we can get to the bottom of this "truth" business. Please post your knowledge of it so I can assimilate the information and use it to construct a better cognitive model of the universe.

Thank You.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

I'm sorry. I'll try again.

You said that you remember a day (let's call that day one) when you disliked another person (let's call that person one) because he was driving his car at a certain speed.

My proposition is that you can also remember a different day (if so, let's call that day two) where another person (let's call that person two) was driving his car at the same speed as person one, but you did NOT dislike that person.

If so, then the true reason why you dislike person one, but not person two, was not the speed person one was driving at (because person two was driving at the same speed, yet you do not dislike him).

If not so, then my proposition must be false. That would mean that you would always dislike another person when he or she drives at a certain speed. Then you would be a remarkably consistent person. I don't have a problem with that, it's just that I would like to know if my proposition is false. (I will try a different argument, then ). So tell me.

BUT if my proposition is not false, I would like to know the true reason why you dislike person one, but not person two. It's okay that you lied to me when you said it was because of the speed. I don't mind, really. I'm a forgiving person. But now tell me the TRUTH, will ya? (Hint: It must have something to do with the time of the incident. You were having a bad day or something like that.)

I think the truth is that in that situation you don't actually hate the driver you are just feeling uptight and annoyed at the moment and just need to try to relax. Think about it, how might you feel about him if you had a few zanax in you?
I often get annoyed in traffic, but, when I make a concious effort to relax that goes away. Then I start to realise the state of mind the other drivers might be in and I feel more sorrow for them than hate.

Ok enter, here's what I think.

I think you want attention, period.

You may think you have the truth or Truth but what you may have (with emphasis on the word 'may') is some of the truth or even the Truth. Whether any of that is certain or not is hard to tell for your actions on this forum do not indicate it.

I will reserve my personal thoughts on your character because I am a Moderator in this forum and should try to promote goodwill among the members.

Simply put, we have little to nothing to talk about. You have nothing that you can teach me except perhaps patience.

Thank you.

That is all.

Anyone ever read the short story The Real Thing by Carolyn Ives Gilman? It appeared in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction July 2001and The Year's Best Science Fiction 19th Edition. It is about a future when nobody cares about the truth, only the act of recieving vast amounts of information.
