I'm going to stop the video at :57 and call BS.  The current scientific standard known no limit to the universe.  This guy draws a circle and says this is the universe.  In short, he's contradicting his own argument about atheists unto himself.

Besides, he's talking about naturalism.  Not atheists who firmly believe in an infinite universe of quantum possibilities.

I agree that atheists can't say that their philosophy and science are the same thing. As the person on that video says, science can not make claims about things which can't or haven't been tested. So god, the essence of existence, all that kind of stuff is currently unanswered by science and possibly can not be answered by science. Atheism is basically a philosophy based on inference, not scientific fact.

too many wars have been fought over religious beliefs for me to even want to believe in that shit.
if there were a supreme being would it let lives be taken in it's name?

I don't necessarily disagree with what he was saying, I just couldn't stand to listen to his voice for more than 2 minute. 11 mins is definitely too long for that...

It dosen't just avoid the question of god altogether. It has definite position on the subject.

Atheism does not adress any questions, it does not represent a side to any particular argument....etc

There is no Atheism except from the point of view of the theist.

Some people who call themselves atheist's go out of their way to try and disprove various religious beliefs, but that is not atheism. Atheism is simply the lack of a belief in god. Or more specifically a lack of belief in your god.

Yeah, but probably the only thing that most atheists do agree on is that they don't believe in a god. Beyond that there is nothing.

They may all share a fondness for rationalism, but I doubt that most atheists share the same reasoning behind their non-belief in a god.

I'm more of a physicalist tho. I think life has absolutely no meaning and free will is an illusion. Humans are just biological organisms that operate on a complex physical chain of cause and effect.

Life is just a hopeless, unwinable fight against entropy. However, that doesn't mean you can't experience boundless amounts of joy while you possess self-awareness so I advocate hedonism.
