Depression
    #9565366 -

Hey guys and girls.
Im Tien aka Plutonium
..I used to be a mushroom "enthusiast", but haven't really had much to do with them for the last 3 years or so.
I used to be a very controversial character in this community..I was the first to rock a nazi swastika on the forums, so the wonderful staff here gave you the option of being able or unable to view other peoples' avatars..all thanks to me =]

The shroomery community holds a very special place in my heart as I have met some totally wonderful people on here...a few of them have become dear friends throughout the years.

Anyway, so I've been diagnosed with clinical depression this week.
I'm still trying to get a reaction out of myself...but I feel nothing.
My shrink told me that I've been suffering with this illness for probably sometime and that I should go on meds. She wants me to take Zoloft, which I refuse to do at any cost.
I'd rather blaze a spliff and just....forget. Not give a flying fuck. Go to sleep. Away from this distraught planet we call home...I've always believed that I belong to another civillization...perhaps a different time frame.

I don't know why I came here, actually. There isn't much here for me.
I guess I just sort of needed to share with someone.

Tien, giving a shout out to all who knew me. Apologizing, to all whom I've done wrong.
Laughing, with you.

Cheers

Tien.

seems like a nice heroic dose of psilocybin would be your cure. I really don't believe in being "clinically" depressed, depressed is just a state of mind. Some people are really happy, some are a little sad/angry some times, thats life. The only thing you can do is ask why you feel depressed and then how can you solve your problem.

Good luck. I'll pray to the divine fate that you find peace.

I'm glad you aren't going to go on any anti-depressants. Things will go up eventually. You just need to be patient and do stuff that makes you content with living. Do want you want to do.

The only thing certain about life is death.

Good for you for not taking any meds. My advice is might be a tough one in your state, but really just say FUCK everything and DO what YOU want to DO. The universe will unfold in your hands the way you depict it. I dont want to sound like a jackass but you have to pick yourself up and stay strong and positive. Depression is usually caused by the reflection of self, based on what other people percieve as you. It might not be your case but seriously just live your life. If you have to take time off of work, do it. If you want to visit a place, go do it. Dont let anything stop you, not even depression, its not going to be clouding your mind permanently thats for certain but how long it stays depends on you.

Love and peace, stay strong my friend.

Why is a forum dedicated to a serotonergic drug, so averse to antidepressants?

you must not read much. i will give you credit though, in retrospect it sounds strange. modern 'science' just isn't ready to acknowledge the role (or existence for that matter) of the spirit. and when i say spirit i dont mean like a little boo ghost or something, you really just have to open up your mind, and look.

I respect your opinion.  But I can guarantee you that you will find plenty of scientific evidence that the mind state of depression has a direct correlate to a very real physical reality involving the brain and neurochemical levels.

If depression is just a state of mind, then why suggest a physical compound such as psilocybin as a cure?  Because physical neurochemicals do affect the abstract mind, and vice versa.

Depression is very real, and it is very insensitive to invalidate the suffering of an untold number of people in the present and throughout history, including humans and animals.

I agree that depression is real, and that we can measure the chemical differences between someone who is depressed & someone who is not.  That said, anti-depressants have shitty side-effects & are not preferable for long-term use.

IMO, anti-depressants are useful in overcoming the inertia which usually accompanies depression.  This inertia can make it seem impossible to make the lifestyle changes which will effect a LONG-TERM move away from a depressive state.

If someone utilizes anti-depressants as part of a plan to change the lifestyle conditions which led to the depression in the first place, then the side-effects will be temporary.  Also, if they view the anti-depressants as a tool which they are using to achieve their goal of enjoying life, vs. a magic pill which is saving them from their natural state of being miserable, they will feel empowered rather than powerless.
