Scullcap species and potency

I plan on ordering some scullcap dried herb from IAS among other things but they only carry the Scutellaria lateriflora species. I did some further reading and found only a little bit of information about each species. Here is something I found on an erowid experience report.

"When experimenting with Skullcap, PLEASE try and specify the specific species you are using so we can keep track of the effects of the different types. this is the main three:
1. Scutellaria lateriflora (weak, dont expect much)
2. Scutellaria galericulata (supposed to be as good as bud)
3. Scutellaria nana (supposed to be as good as HIGH QUALITY bud)"

I would be purchasing on OZ from IAS for a little more than $2 with my discount. IAS claims this herb is "coveted" but that could just be a marketing technique so its hard to determine. It is really cheap but I am a fan on herbal smokes, and if I like it enough I would seek out more potent species. If I don't like it enough to smoke it, I could use it in a tea or mix it with some other herbs and use it on a charcoal incense burner.

I love to mix my herbs and magic plants to get odd combinations especially while tripping on stronger hallucinogens and it seems like this would be a good herb to add to my collection. Does anyone have any input or links to additional information? Who else has mixed this herb with other stronger ones?

This is an interesting thread I must say, I would like to know if there is any validity to the supposed effects of skullcap. I myself just recently purchased a bunch of dried herbs from a local organic food store, among them being passionflower and skullcap, experimenting with both teas and smoking them and have found very little effects, if any.
Passionflower gave me a slightly different buzz when combined with marijuana, but seemed to have no effect when smoked out of a vaporizer. Skullcap was similiar, almost like a tobacco buzz with the lightheadedness associated with lack of oxygen. I am sorry I have no information on the specific species though... keep us informed on how it goes!

Something as good a high quality bud that is legal? I would bet the place I live in that is not true at all.

Skullcap makes good tea, thats about it.

I wouldn't put too much faith in Skullcap. I mean yes, it is an herb, but it really isn't not that powerful. Expecting it to even measure up to low-quality weed would be a pretty bold statement.

it is quite weak, and mainly used for sedation.  The tea is ok, but very mild.

I got some S. nana from a friend out West. It was BOMB AS FUCK. Normal scullcap doesn't do shit for me, but this stuff had me floored.

Sweet, glad to hear its that good, wish I could try some someday but I should try Scutellaria lateriflora first.

Eh, I doubt I will be disappointed, I try to avoid putting myself in a mental state where I can become disappointed. If I don't feel anything from just the herb I can mix it with others, put it in a tea, or burn it as loose incense on a charcoal tablet. Plus I paid little over $2, I'm OK with that. I am sorry you did not enjoy your herb.
