No, it's a public channel.

We aren't trying to make OTD worse but I understand your concern.

Like Thor said, it's about choices. This way, people who don't like the negative vibe that OTD can throw off have a place to hang.

There are some good posts in OTD, but when I check in during the day and there are 100 new threads some of them being "Hey, its late at night!  We should sleep!"  Or the "^^^^^" or [insert gross picture here] etc.  I think the goal of this section is to have the more intelligent/entertaining posts here and the garbage (IMO) left to those that want to be post whores.  That?s just my thought though  :smile:

I just stumbled in here, to find that Marshal Earp made me a deputy. I think it's about creating a public place for members to come and relate who for one reason or another are uncomfortable in the OTD. It could be a good idea. Let's hope it works. I have always been concerned about those who don't like the negativity of the OTD. Let's hope this can be a home for them. :smile:

Yep, we mimic it seems a lot of Overgrows problems.

OTD is a high volume forum that really will only get busier as this site continues to gain in popularity.

I think Chill out could simply be a great solution for those who don't like the vibe of OTD.

To address the flaming issue in OTD...
Flaming is something that can NOT be stopped, no matter how hard the mods try. It is tollerated, to a point. There is always a line to be drawn. We'll figure it out when we get there.

Things are cyclic by nature... I think that now is the time that this will work....

Like those little scooters. Anyone remember when they came out YEARS ago but nobody bought them and they never caught on? Now every kid on the block has got one..

i will always hang out in OTD, thats the way the world works, people will not always get along. it adds a "spice" to the shroomery i think, thats why im still here after ive been through the other forums, its so interesting to see what each other say, and how others respond, negative, or positive. people will always have to deal with "flaming" so to say, but who cares? its the internet for crying out loud, you cant take what anyone says about you to the heart here, no one really knows anyone here, speaking in real life-face to face terms. i dont think OTD will become like the thunder dome, and just be people insulting each other for the hell of it, i just dont know if it will keep the same "spice" as it had b4. i guess time will tell all.

Yeah, the OTD is a good thing, and it will always be part of the heart of this community. I plan on still visiting the OTD often! This is just a place for us to go sometimes when we want to be more upbeat and serious... :grin:

Let me ask you this... You know a lot of people don't like OTD right? Well should we ignore them and just say "hey too bad, like it or leave?"

Hell no, we have to give a home to both sides and now there is. Its not like we are saying you have to pick one or the other, rather now we have choices that really anyone visiting this site can find a home to shoot the shit.

You do make a good point. i never thought of this forum as going to be the thunder dome, but OTD, turn out to be more like the thunderdome. i actually think that this is a better idea, but i think people should have to learn to deal with criticism, even to the highest degree. its in our lifes everywhere we go. i think the chill-out forum isnt a bad idea, i just simply think OTD has a more realistic touch to it. but i will probably post under both, expecially if it has an interesting topic. im eager to see how it works out, you never know, this forum can go many ways, can turn out to be a mirror of OTD, or it could be weak, with posts like "whats your favorite Monopoly Strategy?". We will see in Time, i think you do a good job here Thor. I really enjoy this site, Im not bashing on your ideas, just speaking out loud-saying what i think should be said!
