OTD was officially pronounced dead November 17th 2003 around 7:00 eastern standard time. The attending phsycian at the time of writing does not have confirmation if OTD has been cryogenically frozen for re-animiation at some future date or if mortician is already pumping the blood from OTD's still warm veins.
Cause of death at this point is still rather vague. Some said OTD suffered from financial problems, other stated OTD was subject to large amounts of negativity and depression, others still still regarded OTD as having no purpose in the community. Regardless of the motivations OTD was systamatically euthanized by a small governing counsel around 7:00 PM today.
OTD did not go quitely into the dark night and fought the poisons at every step. After several days of continuous battle it was succesfully terminated. Gone but not forgotten.
Official memorial services are still pending. Friends and family are encouraged to do everything they can to embody the glorious spirit of OTD in their ongoing actions.

The idea is *not* to start up a million threads with your opinons about OTD in the Pub. If your thread is deleted, it's for a good reason.
If you keep making a new one saying the same thing- you might get a warning, but the way things are looking, you'll probably be banned. Might wanna stop doing that...

I understand that gumby dude, but "a million threads" and a couple are way different. I thought this one had some merit and shouldn't be deleted for no reason.

Anybody else see that OTD's fate is similar to that of Chris Farely, John Candy, and John Belushi?

it's raining here, which suits my mood.
OTD is the only reason you people even know me.
I was never a big computer person. I used it for a few things.
work mostly. then I came here to find out about mushrooms
then I found OTD and well most of you know I'm always here.
and I have been since early 2001.
I can only hope they bring back OTD
I've seen it WAY worse than it was
and I thought it had gotten ALOT tamer than it was.

Well, OTD was one of my favorite parts of this website, and it's a long standing tradition here. The truth is, the Shroomery is not only a site for people to learn about mushroom cultivation, and it never has been. From the beginning, it was a place for people to hang out, joke around, and make friends.
It's been around since the start, those who decided to be rid of it have not. It's my impression that they have no respect for some of the institutions here, not do they even have a full understanding of what OTD was all about.
It was one thing to impose some new rules, it's another thing entirely to get rid of the forum.
So I'm getting the fuck out of here. The administration has lost touch with the users.
The day OTD comes back is the day I come back.
