This is a shroom site and always has been since 1998 when it was created by Ythan and Aphex. It is as it says onthe front page of the site, which has been on the front page of the site since it begans a shroom site, not an OTD site The only thing missing is the brain logo which origianlly graced the page.

LISTEN, READ, THINK.



As I have read and quoted, OTD will be closed for ten days, up to two weeks, that's a small break and it is worth it to keep OTD around.
Admittedly the only posts I have made in the past few months (excluding a handful) have been in OTD, I will change that. Regardless of who is "in power" and who is making money off of this site I love it. All you need to do is have some restraint in your post whoring and venture into other forums.


Be productive, help The Shroomery advance.


That is all it will take!

my thoughts and I'm done

i think what so bothers some of us is this:

anybody can make a site that has info...thats nothing special really...again the shroomery does a good job at that...along with the creation of the shroomery a little place called OTD came to be after a while. again that in itself is nothing special.

the community and what OTD became and morphed into WAS something fairly unique and special. i have never seen anything like it anywhere else. i must admit i haven't looked far, there was no need. yes there is TDUB and thats a cool place because of its own developement and culture, TDUB is not OTD II or anything. i like it for different reasons and different loyalties.

OTD wasn't always pretty and it wasn't always comfortable...either are shrooms btw....but along with the discomfort that that freedom allowed some very special and great things were posted over the years.

i cant count how many times i was almost on the floor laughing at something in OTD. often it was at something shocking...something uncomfortable. i cant count the cool people i got to know though OTD. If it passes away or "changes", we all have great memories of a special time and place. i know it wasn't always awesome...i dont think anything is...its sad to think there is a new group coming to the shroomery wont 'discover" the shroomery most of us did. (i think everyone goes thru a special discovery phase and for some when its was over for others its was just begining). lets face it many of the long timers here stayed due to OTD after they got their growing goals accomplished. btw thanks for the help in the early days ShroomGod.

im willing to wager a good portion of the mods and admins (past and present) became shroomerites and not just growers because of the OTD experience. I know not all so dont start with that bull as i made this disclaimer.

another point i would like to make is chat does not = OTD. that arguement is lame and is like some "spin" line from a political campain . come on we all know its different.

so OTD was not for you...DONT GO THERE.. i see people i respect fighting eachother ..another faction leaves, another void is formed. there is room for it all imo..hell ill kick in cash but in the end that not the reason i was told.

i know the current leaders of the shroomery are doing what they think is best...for that thank you...but the shroomery that is being morphed would not be as great as it is without the contributions and time put in by people before. you inherited something special imo. and a big part of that special was an OTD and its culture that had developed over years.

no its not the end of the world. its is just cool website with a cool little corner called OTD that many liked, but not all. its a shame imo to see it and what it offered disapear, thats all.

Nice post oDin, and I agree. Fortunately, regardless of the conclusion we come to, a Read-Only archive of the past OTD will be available to members who would like to view it.

It was started in '97. You can here in 98, and I remember that. You made a post pointing out some errors in an FAQ.

The site has always been a shroom site, as I said, but it has also always been a community for people who just want to shoot the shit. Hell, back in those days it was rare to find a member over 18, let alone having rules requiring it.

Read what I said carefully:

The sarcastic sense of humour that is popular in OTD may not be completely understood by many of the members who prefer the other forums on the site, and that's fine. They don't have to go into OTD. In fact, if they want to discuss unrelated topics, there's an excellent forum for them, called the pub.

(I know I said I was gone, but I take that back in part. I'm just making posts related to this situation. Nothing else.)

Why must you constantly feel the need to spread negativity? If someone very close to you died (or was in a coma or something) and some PAB kept saying shit like: "get it over it pansy...shit happenes" I seriously doubt you'd just sit there an go: "yeah, you're right...I'm making a big deal over nothing here, I should just shut the fuck up and quit being a little baby about it"

Just because OTD didn't mean jack shit to you doesn't mean that it didn't mean anything to anyone else. I know damn well that it was much more then some random online message forum to a lot of people here - it was a place to unwind at the end of a long day, a place to meet new people and foster new friendships, a place where you could go to vent if you ever felt the need to do so, and so much more that I could go on like this for quite some time (which I probably would too, just to prove a point...but I already know that if I did that you'd just see it like I was trying to glorify it inot something it's not, and imediately dissmiss everything I had to say in exactly the same way as you'd dismiss the ravings of some psychopath on Central ranting about the end of the world)

My point is that it really did mean a whole lotta something to a whole lotta people here...and you're cold-hearted attitude towards those of us who are still in mourning, is doing nothing but enflaming the very same negative vibes that we're all trying hard to avoid. From my point of view - you're trying everything in your power to instigate another flame war...and you know as well as I do that that's uncalled for. If you don't like to read other people's posts about how they feel a part of them is somehow missing now that they have a void in their life caused by something they were close to being taken from them - THEN DON'T READ EM (it really is as simple as that) No one's forcing you to partake in these conversations - you're going out of your way to infest threads that you obviousy don't have a connection with, simply to state an 'opinion' that you know is going to touch a nerve with many of the people here (and I'm not just talkin about this particular thread either...I've seen you weave in an out of several OTD related threads recently - and you're always parading around with that same exact 'anti-OTD' message of how much you enjoy our misery an how much we should all just learn to let it go an move on with our lives)

I really do think you need to stop being so insensitive towards others...and you certainly need to realize that no matter how much you might think you're just excersizing your rights of free speech, you're really just trampling on other people's rights and insulting em in the process. You are, in essence, breeding the very same attitudes and thought process that got OTD where it's at today...you're feuling a fire that doesn't need to be burning any longer - and you need to stop.
