There seems to be this bizarre general contempt for 'the big corporations,' as if large businesses are nothing but malignant centers of evil, out to kill and rob.  They are just successful businesses; they haven't done anything that justifies your thievery.  Somebody hears something about Wal-Mart using exploitative foreign labor, and suddenly any crime against any large corporation is completely justified, a righteous strike for the 'good guys.'

i don't care for them, because they don't care for me.

and they are "successful" because of greed.

i don't see a difference between corporations and mom-and-pop's either, if they are making such an enormous profit they really should be passing the savings onto the consumer, i.e. you and me.

No, but mom and pop aren't making a net income much more than I am. People high up at wal-mart are making millions, perhaps billions, of dollars. Now, don't misinterpret that, I have nothing wrong if someone honestly makes that much money. What I do have a problem with is the power that comes with it, and the so often abuse of that power. When you lobby to change laws that only benefit you and hurt citizens/consumers and in effect bribe politicians to pass things then yes, I consider that stealing from me. Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's not theft.

I never said all big corporations are assholes, that's far from the truth. It just happens to be that many of them are. But if the mom and pop convenience store down the street is run by douche bags then I go to the one around the corner instead. If walmart is run by douche bags I don't have much of a choice, it's not like the other walmart is  any better and they often run out all the little stores leaving us with no alternative but to steal, starve, or hand them our money.

Yes, the US government is corrupt and it does circle jerk with big business.  This still does not justify stealing batteries.  Even if two wrongs did make a right, it won't be the rich execs who eat the cost of theft; it will be lower-level employees and paying customers.

it's not that they have more money than me, but the fact that they have SO MUCH MORE than me, this is the reason why people work 9-5 5 days a week for 40 years.

Well I look at it like I do drugs. It's illegal to smoke pot, but fuck it, it shouldn't be so I'll smoke pot. The more people who ignore the laws the less effective the laws are, and the sooner they get repealed. If a company is charging an exorbitant amount for a product I don't buy it. However I can only take so much not buying of a product until there's a product I absolutely need, or just decide I want enough to steal. It's not my fault that the rest of the sheep go along and support that company by continually buying it, thus allowing them to keep the price so high.

However, with that said, and as I stated earlier, I haven't stolen anything in years. It's yet to come to a point where I absolutely need something that's such a rip off I deam it worthy of stealing, but for this reason, I don't blame people who have a lower threshold than myself. It is flawed logic I won't deny, but I can't find any better logic for either stealing or not stealing, so it's what I have to work with.

And here we arrive at the real reason for this kind of theft: bitterness and jealousy.  If you live in the US, you live in the nation in which it is the easiest by far to become rich.  You're surrounded by 300 million people with relatively *huge* levels of disposable income, dying to part with it for absolutely any POS product that might give them a little bit of pleasure.  The fucking Pet Rock made someone a millionaire.

The reason people work a miserable 9-5 their whole lives is because they are complacent.  People with no initiative and a shitty attitude guarantee themselves a meager income by believing that someone else is making them poor.  The only difference between rich people and poor people in a capitalist country is that rich people never believed that someone else gets to decide how well they do financially.

If you don't have as much money as you think you deserve, it's probably your fault.

nope, in our current system, someone's got to get the short end of the stick. the man with the top-hat pays the shoe-shiner a penny from the 10 cents he charged from the shoe-shiner!

Anyone, yes. Everyone, no.

There is a short end, of course.  But able-bodied and able-minded people who live with the short end do so because they settled for it.  Financial wealth is there for those who find it important enough to invest their time in obtaining it.  The how-to information is out there, for free, in libraries, on the internet and in the heads of those millions of people who have done it.  But to most, ease and complacency are worth more that the time and effort it takes.  Blame is always easier than accountability.

Where did Mr Moneybags get the top hat?  Chances are it wasn't from his daddy.  He probably spent some time shining shoes but decided he didn't want to do it his whole life.  He probably then spent his free hours learning how to provide enough value to others to make a profitable business.

I completely disagree that anyone can become a millionaire, unless you're including in your "can become" the person in question finding a bale of million dollars or other significant improbabilities.
