Anyone work on an oil rig?

Im trying very hard to land a winter position on the alberta oil rigs - Certified WHMIS, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods today, been working out...

Taking H2S (hydrogen sulphide safety training) on the 2nd, industry first aid on the 6th and 7th...

All the kids i went to highschool with headed out there and made the big bucks, of course lots of them smoked lots of crack and got in lots of trouble - others got rich and blew it quick...

I always thought it would be a comprimise to work in the oil and gas industry - but these days i dont really give a fuck. I've got goals in mind...

Either way - its basically 6 months of working everyday, 12hr days, and living in camp....

The base salary is $20 an hour, $23-27 is more common for entry level workers.

Anyone ever worked in the oil fields/oil sands? What about Offshore?

Isn't hydrogen sulfide what they put in automotive NO2 to keep people from inhaling it. Don't contribute to the oppression!!
