let me follow that up by saying obama isnt going to turn the USA in a democratic socialist country

however, like europe and canada borrowing pieces from socialism and capitalism and meeting somewhere in the middle is right for progress.

I never mentioned democratic socialism but now I'm a bit intrigued. Explain to me exactly what you believe democratic socialism is and then maybe I'll be able to answer your question somewhat eloquently. "Democratic socialism" is a very broad term. Also, do you believe that Barack Obama supports this "democratic socialism" that you speak of?

usually it takes about 5 or 6 pages before a PAL thread becomes this

If you're talking about social democracy, it's not that much of a broad term. It's a political philosophy, same way we talk about neoconservatism in the US. Every country in Europe has a social democrat party. It was the dominant political philosophy of the post-war 20th century (and still is, in most places).
