I saw no point being made there. I did however observe insinuation and manipulation.

I absolutely agree with your point that there is a time and a place for everything.

IMO, you're doing it backwards. you said:

What are we, as people, but our thoughts, feelings, and our actions?

If we hide these things from one another... do we really know each other? Who is Alexandra, but the things she feels, thinks, and does? This makes up you as a person, and if you hide these things from those closest to you, or distort the reality of these things... do those who you care most about know you? Do they care about the real you?

These are things I think about. I can be more reserved with strangers. Casual acquaintances. They can see parts of me, and I can be tactful, even strategic with the truth.

But those closest to me...

Who of us would want to die thinking that no one ever really knew us?  That no one ever really loved the person that we are...

I mentioned nothing about hiding anything.

I feel it appropriate to exercise thinking before speaking.  And one should make sure that ones motives lie with expressing truth, not merely selfish outbursts.
