It depends on your case.

People who eat low amounts of carbs need a good sugar spike every now and then, especially if they are working out. But this doesn't have to really be junk food. I would say at least once a month if not once a week (to follow the workout schedule).

There is no reason to eat junk food besides the fact that you want to. Which is completely fine. There's no reason to cut it out completely unless you make habits out of it or it's obviously damaging your health for some reason.

Well you can if you want.

But it's not like eating all good foods is going to kill you. Unless you aren't eating enough good foods and are deficient in something.

You should be fine with or without some junk then.

I did mention that. I've heard people talking about that but when I got super zealous about having a clean diet I hit more brick walls than anything... I thought I'd be on the fast track to great results but it was not the case. I've tried emulating an extremely healthy diet more than once and came to the same conclusion.

I do eat very clean for the most part, I avoid sugar and refined foods, all the fun stuff, etc... but once a day I'll permit myself a variable meal. I eat three whole meals a day and drink 4 protein shakes, two of those shakes I blend up with nut butters and other health food goodies (like Chia Pro, made by a new company called MRI). I don't even eat sugar but I'll let one meal have up to 30g of sugar, just once a day. But it's not imperative that I eat a loose meal like that.

Once every two weeks I'll let myself munch on a pizza or something. If I don't, fat loss halts and I even think I don't put on as much muscle. If I don't eat particularly "bad", I'll just eat more. I'll double up on the carbs or fat, my protein is high enough. This really gets my muscles full the next day, and my stomach does not become bloated.

They say the leaner you are, the more cheat days you can permit within a given time span. The more bodyfat you have, the more you should limit the frequency of your cheat meals. I guess I can't say that I eat absolute garbage like McDonalds or anything... my cheat meals are usually something like a humongous burger or pizza with some extra chicken, steak or lean ground beef lol

This has definitely worked for me though, especially when dieting. I know lots of bodybuilders also do this too. Your metabolism won't stay revved up if it gets accustomed to clean eating. I couldn't find too many studies about this, but evidentally it works because there are bodybuilders who step on stage who have virtually no fat. And before people cry out "ALL DRUGS", just try getting to sub 7-8% bodyfat carrying a decent amount of muscle. It is TOUGH.

Even taking steroids, growth hormone, clenbuterol (bronchialdilator that's abused for fatloss), ephedrine, T3 and other thyroid stimulating drugs, DNP (oxidative uncoupler, can freakin' kill you. Has no ceiling effect, just cranks your temperature up!!) and other supplements these professionals struggle to get where they are. And their diet is still just as important as their drug regimen, if not, more important. I've heard some of the dietary secrets out there and the things people do before competitions is a fine science. Only a few years ago did the "Atkins" diet come out, despite bodybuilders doing ketogenic diets for 40 years! Crazzzy.
