straw shelf life

If you buy straw from michaels or from the feed store in a bail.  How long is it good for cultivation.  Its out of season right now and I was thinking of buying like 10 bales or something this fall but if its only good for so long then?  It would be garage kept out of the elements.

Out of the elements along time. You could probably use it all before it goes bad if it ever does go bad. I know ranchers that have hay in barns for years and still use it to feed their cows.
