As coincidence would have it, I was just mushroom hunting myself yesterday (8-31-02). Even the moss is dried up and dead. This terrible drought has everything brown and dead. Where is the rain ?????????

I would suggest that due to the lack of rain 6/10ths of an inch in the last 3 months we are in bad shape for vegetative growth which makes fruitbodies for us to pick. Naaah i am sure once mid september hits the rain will pick up and things will be stoked once again. Much much much drier this summer than last tho. After seeing GSA and shoey's(joshuas) sub alt finds down in oregon i feel like river dancing tho. However and therefor everyone should send the cardboard money so i can buy gallons of water to dump from aeroplanes and heliocoptors.

Yes you should be able to find cyanescens down there. Azures may be more prolific but there is no reason why cyans wont grow.

The only reason we found such an abundent amout was due to it being a newly laid lawn and the nice sprinkler system. Without those there wouldn't have been any shrooms. I say go hit up those new housing comunities.........peace

Psilocybe cyanescens is potent and grows from San Francisco to British Coloumbia in woodchips and beauty bark mulch, preferably alder and never in cedar.

Azurescens grows along the Oregon coast primarily in the Hammon/AAstoria area.

The first fruits from middle October to later December if there is n freeze. The latter from middle ONovember to December.

I have also picked baeocystis and stubntizz in the Portland area in new gardens and in woodchips at new restaurants and ofice buildings in their gardens and in the lawns.

yes, cyans do grow in september, but usually later in the month if at all. It just depends when the heavy rains start to kick in. Last year at a cyan spot of mine it was weird, the first two batches in september were scarce and they became contaminated with this green mold-like substance. I thought I was screwed but then in October after the rains really started kicking in there were healthy ones popping up and there were shitloads! WAy more than the year before.

So yeah, apparently they don't hold up too well in september if they even grow at all. But for now you should be able to find liberty caps after it rains (it's been raining all day and I get my license back tomorrow! yes!!!) and stuntzii even when it doesn't rain, just look in places where they use sprinklers.
