it's fun, I play about twice a week for a few hours, if I feel like it. People on here are exaggerating like crazy, it's not that addictive. It's fun to play it casually.

Yeah it really isn't that addictive at all if you don't let it get you addicted. I play from time to time, and I think it's a lot of fun.

The fun part of WoW is just being immersed in this highly detailed world, and progressing your character from a level 1 with no gear to a level 70 killing machine. Progress is always nice. Plus it's something that feels social even if you aren't talking to anybody.

yeah when i played i did enjoy the feel of total immersion into the game, i'd just smoke a few bowls put on led zeppelin and run quests for a few hours, never got totally obsessed by it, just didnt feel like paying for it anymore.

i know about 8-10 people it totally consumed and 2-3 that it didnt, the odds are against you my friend. what is even creepier is when two strangers that play meet in a bar or something and they will sit there and talk about all that weird shit like theyve been in love for years. not for me.

ha ha man, its fun though, when you can relate to a complete stranger and just shoot the shit about something your both into, that sounds like great bar talk imo.

Can't you just download the free trial version and upgrade to a real account online? I think that's what I did.

WoW was awesome for a month or two, but after that it got incredibly boring. The first character I made was INCREDIBLE. I would smoke a few bowls and purposely walk around really dangerous zones checking out the ultra strong monsters, or stealth around a crowded forest and cheap shot people who were trying to finish quests. The world is seamless, greatly detailed, and MASSIVE. It would take you days to see everything (and months of hardcore gaming to actually see all of the game content).

As far as the actual RPG element goes, I think it's pretty lacking. Quests are dull and repetitive for the most part ('Find 10 of X', 'Kill 20 of Y', 'Bring Object X from point A to point B'), but that's true of most online RPGs. The storyline didn't interest me much, but I'm not familiar with any of the other Warcraft games; if you were, you would probably find it much more engrossing. I think the real strong point of the game is PvP. Battlegrounds (which I didn't discover until level 50+?) provide endless hours of fun, and if you're playing a PvP realm there's the constant threat of being ganked to keep things exciting while you grind countless quests.

Anyways, enjoy. I haven't played in a few months and I don't think I will again. I just bought a cheap gamecube so I'll be vegged out on that for a good few months at least!

The only time is sucks away too much time is if you get involved in a hardcore raiding guild.. which is also the only way you'll experience all the content WoW has to offer. Most guilds raid anywhere from 3-5 days a week for 3-5 hours at a time. There are also much more casual guilds though. But I guess it's better than watching TV which is what most people do. I know a chick who is completely addicted to WoW. It has turned me off so much that I refuse to play the game. To see a girl lumped over her laptop fixated on this stupid pink dragon not wanting to be a social human anymore is just sad..

its gonna be great when mccain sends you all to iran because not having WoW will piss a lot of you off so much that you will be great fighters!!!! then you will get a REAL world of warcraft. think about that.
