you could be ready but dont forget long winters and unsure food supply. get good at being efficient, that is, check your poop to make sure its not got chunks of undigested shit and is not too much. most popele eat way more than they need to and the body just says no thanks and shits it

rig up some fans to be dehydrators. take out the fan part and its axel, if you will, and hook it up to a hand pump and put whatever you wanna dry (apples, potatoes, etc dry these every year you have even a little extra, you never know what next year will bring) in the box and the fan will shoot air into the box and create all sorts of strong waves and u can easily dry food. that is, shoot the air at the wall of the box so it comes back and hits your food twice.

store food in metal containers underground away from ur house so people cant rob u, cant hide in the woods and watch u go to the stash and then rob u

The knowledge would be rare, and those with it would rise to the top quickly. FOr instance, to boast, I would already be a prince of the forest, in full out armour of thought and understanding of what is around me.
The sad thing is, some idiot would kill me, for my sack full of fresh mushrooms, edible herbs, and spring greens, instead of first torturing me, to extract this knowledge from my head, or teaming up with me, to form an alliance.

Hiding food underground is a great idea. But about the metal containers.Lets say you are off in the woods somwhere and dont have a metal container. How would you go about making one from wood?Making it wouldnt be a problem but making it water proof would be.

yeah money is meaningless.  if the government has enough food to give u, you go to work and u get money then u give them the money and they give u the food. the money is an illussory step in the process. thus, foodstamps.

if you think about it 2 percent farmers are keeping 100percent of us alive.  2 percent is with tractros that is.

whenever i dont want to cry, i dont think about how if we had all become farmers back in like 1946, how we could do 2 hours of work a day each, and we would have, hold on to ur hats
food, water, family, friends, music, booze, drugs, some technology, books, peace, calmness, the kids will be playing, no schools, no useless jobs (hate to say this but jobs are just social get togethers, everybody knows no work gets done. this was new to me recently. up until i got into 11th grade i thought people actually worked  :smirk:)
and that the work was somehow necessary.

imagine how happy we would be if we as children had spent more time listening to birds instead of ignoramus UNHAPPY people (teachers) yell at us for thinking what we want to think and not thinking about the INFORMATION (useless btw and quickly forgotten) that we need to pay attention to to get grades

the only waterproof thing in nature is rock. with this in mind, find a big flat convex rock like a contact lens and dig a hole, line it with wooden planks (or better yet dig in clay soil thats been compacted, you can jump up and down or use a big rock or piece of wood to slowly pack it down. theres a way to make houses by stacking old car tires up and filling it with dirt and packing it down, it becomes like rock.)
if you have plastic put ur food in plastic (we all know food needs to be dry or it will rot, comon think fungus this is the shroomery) so make sure its dry when u put it in then wrap it in plastic or glass jars with rubber seals work. plastic. i dont like plastic but cant think what else. u just gotta be sure that when it rains it wont get wet. so then put ur big rock on top overhanging the container so the water seeps down and stays outside.
btw ive been thinking wen u ejaculate onto skin and it dries its very sticky and so is boogers, these could somehow be used as a sealant! maybe lol earwax woot

this is all very sad

Which brings up the topic of ' Sex with Chanterelles'
In essence, my own giving nature, and free hearted spirit, would be cut down by the beast that is the evil within.
Whatever generosity I give, would eventually strike me down.
Although my prowess of the woodlands and free spirit progress might someday come back to help me, I may never know it, in this life or the next.  And the very sweat that drips into my mushrooms, would soon be cast with my own blood, giving rise to the demon that will overtake the land.
Read revelations. If I survive the initial blast, survival is just a matter of time.
THE RIGHTEOUS WILL BE GATHERED BY THE HAND OF GOD
Thus, in my fall of death, I rise in the Afterlife.
So when the time comes, give, and give more. And When you are betrayed, curse not.
:sun:

if ur near arable land (land that can be farmed, which is basically anywhere not some dried up lake thats all salt filled) but near a river, you are set. deserts are made of the same thing as forests just no water. we've been dumb not to farm the deserts on a non cashcrop scale. ppl farm in deserts these days but we could farm the ENTIRE desert, ie, make it all forest. desert is cleaner fi u think about the fact that there hasnt been much rain which deposits chemicals. i wear glasses and when it rains and i just let the water dry i can see all this shit left behind. naturally some is dirt but some is not. deserts are less populated and would be more calm in panicy times.
theres huge indian reservations in NE Arizona where the Hopi have been warning us about this shit for years. they might accept refugees or even let us start farms there now as they have tons of land they dont use. wait, why dont i do this?

Temporary storage.
Burying food under rocks is pointless, because when it rains, the saturation level in the soil rises, and will cover up even things stored under a concave rock lense.

Good point, wood wouldnt be a usuable resource in places like the desert or high altitudes.

But one thing you missed,we are all talking about relocating to a forest.

As I stated earlier in this thread,a whole new set of "rules" would be needed to survive in places like the desert.More things like insects would have to be eaten.

deserts? Nah . Not only is the soil shit, but water conservation( as you mentioned) is a HUGE problem.
I'd take to the trees. I live in the prime area for living off the land.
I'd imagine after the first year, I may already rise to horse master, riding my stallion through the woods, gathering goods, and reflecting crossbow bolts in my nobility stride.
Thus, a horse might be worth more than ten surfs. A horse, and a sword.
Think back to medieval times. This is how it would end up. FREEDOM OF ACTION.
Law? No law.

I really like the idea of stacking tires and filling them with dirt to create a shelter. If you dont relocate to the wilderness and stay in some sort of city like area, this would be great. Then you could convert you 82 trans am to run on ethenol and weld steel plates to the body panels.

Again, blame mad max for my above statement.

true, but if you wanted to store something like grain for longer than a week without taking care of it, youd need something more. your method, the humidity might rise and cause molding

true, but it still can't be ignored. what if for some reason you are weeks worth of walking away from a forest, so somehow you would have to "live off the land" where you are for the time being.

everything isn't as simple as people make it out to be in their posts in this thread.

There are things in nature that are water proof. Many plants contain resin that could be dried and used to seal a wooden container.Maybe even tree sap?

the anazazi farmed the deserts sinse towsands of years. the knowledge and possiblity is there. just cuz a desert is dry... the soil is still good for farming. not to mention the HUGE colorado river runs right thru the desert and most ends up going to so cal to make lettuce and evaporates. it doesnt reach the bahagulf
