My last thread about this got so muddied in details about whether or not the person was fat or ugly, whether they gizzed in someone's hair or not, that the original point got lost.

Here is my second attempt at this.

Let's say you are a man sleeping on an airplane and you wake up to find a very attractive broad masturbating to you in the adjacent seat. Sure, you would be weirded out, but I doubt there are many men here who would feel violated or feel compelled to sue the airlines.

Let's reverse that completely. Let's say a woman woke up to find that very same thing happening to her. I feel pretty safe in saying that she would definitely be creeped out and feel a little violated.

You could say the same about ass slaps too. You would be hard pressed to find a guy who felt degraded because a girl slapped him on the ass and called him sweet cheeks. Yet a girl would probably want to slap any man who did this to her.

I'm not suggesting double standards here at all because I don't think this is what is going on. But why the differing attitudes you think?

Men often follow up these actions with stalking or assult etc. Women rarely or never do.

Because women are raised to be proper and a penis in their vagina, especially an unfamiliar penis, could have disatrous consquences.

Men are raised to judge their manliness by there muscle size, penis size, # of women pleasured with said penis, etc. Often with little heed to consequences.

This is what's known as a double standard in our social consturctiveness. As a society we teach young men to fuck as many hot skinny blondes as possible, while we teach women to be hot skinny blondes that aren't promiscuous.

Simply put, it's a double standard.

At first it seemed like a stupid question to ask and that the answer would be obvious, but at second glance I'm struggling here.

I'd think this would scare the shit out of most women because they suddenly understand how vulnerable they are when sleeping. Women crave security and protection, they are driven to find a mate who will honor their commitment and ensure the safety of the offspring, as well as pass on valuable traits to ensure it's survival. Passing on the genes is the most important drive in play here. The thought of anyone engaging sexually directly or anywhere near you when you are unaware of it is absolutely horrible for woman because they cannot guarantee the safety of the offspring, nor the value of the obtainable qualities from the mystery sperm.

I'd be interested in what her actual reaction was. I would also bet that the reaction would be completely different if she was awake the moment he had started masturbating.

Because more woman would enjoy an attractive man masturbating than men enjoying an ugly woman doing that... ? Even in 'private' public.

I think we (men and women) are not so distinct in our sexual desires, only conditioning differs vastly.

This is what I was talking about, conditioning. Social constructionism is our social condition via parenting, school, advertising, T.V., radio, magazines, etc..

Women our taught not to fuck everyone, whereas men are taught that fucking everyone is what makes you better than the dork in the computer lab.

Hence, it's just a double standard that is reflected in someone's reaction to the aforementioned story.

I think the way men and women approach sex is quite different to be honest. (most) Men have absolutely no problem in having sex with a complete stranger that they have never met. Just look at prostitution, that entire trade caters to men.

Women need some kind of emotional attachment/security with the person before they have sex imo. They like sex equally as much, but they approach it differently. You can see this with bugs and little furry animals too, one critter will do some kind of courtship dance where he jumps around makin little noises with his feet and the female decides if she accepts him. It's kind of like this with us too, only we talk, laugh, and get to know one another. You would be hard pressed to find a woman who was 100% ok with having sex with a complete stranger no matter how attractive he was.

When you consider the safety issue for women in allowing themselves to be vulnerable with men, it is not too difficult to understand their reluctance to get naked with a stranger.  Men, in general, are violent.  Women, in general, are not.  There are many exceptions, but the fact remains that dealing with an XY is risky business.

BTW, I think that the woman in your original situation would have been less likely to sue if there were no bodily fluids involved. That's just GROSS!

And I DO think that a man in the same situation, waking up to discover someone else's sexual fluids in his hair, would be just as upset. It was truly invasive and aggressive behavior, and NOT sexy in the least.

i agree that this is definitely something for women keep in mind, there are a lot of assholes in the world. but I think the prostitution trade, mostly male based audience of porn, speaks a lot about most mens attitude towards sex. a lot of men really have no problem when it comes to having sex with a complete stranger.

just look at romance novels and how much interaction and emotion takes place around the couple before they get to doing the deed. last I went to wal-mart, I didn't see any men in check-out with a Jane Austen novel.

we should get back on topic though!
