two species in one terrarium
    #343120 - 06/17/01 10:14 PM (22 years, 9 months ago)

I was browsing the image gallery and came across a picture of some Amazonians and Gulfs cased in the same terrarium. Wouldn't that be "bad" since you'd have two different species competing for the same resources? Wouldn't a likely outcome be one species over-running the other?

I was wondering this myself. What i have decided to do is just put a piece of plastic in the middle a bit higher than the caseing.that way i woun't need to buy another aqurium

They'll be fine...I often used to have 3-4 strains in the same terrarium

If you mean cased in the same casing container, then it?s OK too, as long you put 1 strain in the one half and the second strain in the other half of the casing.

so is it okay to have two species/strains in one chamber for sure? i have a perlite layer and a raised shelf in my chamber and i have a aluminum cake pan casing(blue meanie) on it and next to it is 6 cakes(z strain). they are both in the same fruitng stage i just dunked the cakes and the casing to get ready for the second flush, they were in seperate chambers but i have decided to put them both in one chamber to save room. what I am really worried about is the spores from the cakes fruitbodies messing with the casing and the spores from the casing fruitbodies messing with the cakes because they are 2 different soecies. i have them kind of away from eachother but i will try to keep the spore load down and keep the spores from casing fruitbodies away from cakes and vice versa
