waxed mushrooms

i just bought a bag of shrooms and they were dehydrated and individually dipped in wax. can someone tell me why?

Because your dealer took one to many???

I would guess to retain potency, but that ain't sane in my view.

It might have been to make them weigh more?! I really don't know never heard of dipping them in wax.

Soak them in hot water with some lemon for half an hour (good way to prepare dried shrooms anyway) & the wax should just melt off and float to the top.
But yes, that is very weird.
