combatting depression
    #7774807 - 12/18/07 06:09 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

i've been combatting depression for around 5 or 6 years now. it has taken over a lot of my life, and although i have won some of my battles, i've lost a lot more. and i've burnt bridges. i've said things i shouldn't to people, and i've behaved in ways that were inappropriate and unnecessary, and i know that it's not me. this isn't me.

the thing is, is that i shouldn't be sad. but i am.

and i don't have a clue. i've gone through trying to get out with friends, taking my mind off of. i've tried so many different things to forget about being sad. i have a similiar post concerning SSRI's right now. i take 5-HTP in hopes of it helping me.

i want to know,
have you battled depression?
what did you notice helped you?
aside from 5-HTP, what kind of herbs can help me?

also, i cannot attend a psychiatrist now due to transportation reasons.
but i would appreciate your stories to give me a little hope, thanks.

I'm pretty much in the same position as you, I've had to deal with it for a few years, i was doing alright for about a month then got diagnosed with schizophrenia

getting into a Hobie you like should help, exercise helps.

I've burnt many bridges too, can't get a job because of it but I'm at university.

I've just accepted the fact that I'm depressed allot and i just try to keep doing what I'd usually do if i wasn't depressed, sometimes it's too hard and i just want to curl up and die but i try to keep my head above ground somewhat.

Just try to function as much as you can.

Exercise and a good diet will seriously help you, it's so overlooked but it's true, too bad i feel too depressed most of the time to exercise lol

not fighting your depression helps. Just ride your feelings and stop repressing them.

Above it all, see that good and bad, cannot be felt without eachother. You will need to experience bad, if you want to experience good. There is just no way around it, but why would you want to go around experiencing good?

--------------------
The mind is a creative tool. It searches to protect you, through message sensations(feelings). It is no different than a computer, you need to make sure its anti-virus program is in check and that it doesnt have a script that limits your experience, because of to much precaution.

And remember the computer does not appear to respond to words of anger and frustration - just give it input, in the form of new meanings that you know to be true and its messages to you and the limits it lays out for you, will change.

Guilt is an outcome of believing you are the cause of the problems.

Yet, we are not a cause to something, we see is negative or bad - Unless you believe your intentions are directed towards a bad outcome....
