According to Merlin and Allen, 1993. Species Identification and Chemical Analysis of Psychoactive Fungi in the Hawaiian Islands. Journal of Ethnopharmacology vol. 40:21-40, Copelandia cambodgeniensis is the most potent of the Copelandia species.

Furthermore, Australian Copelandia cyanescens is high in psilocin and low in psilocybine while the same mushrooms from Hawaii are high in Psilocybin and low in Psilocine.

Each mushroom is different from the another mushroom in the same genera or with in an individual species and each specimen contains different levels of chemicals then all the others analysed.
