Anyone ever date a beaten?
    #7449759 - 09/24/07 10:40 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

I have, and I didn't.
I wasn't beat to shit as a kid so I didnt beat her but, she dared me (on a few occasions) to the point that if I didnt I was a puss (in her eyes). We parted ways a few months later and I found out about a year later from a chick that I was fucking that her new boyfriend (soon to be husband, later to be ex-husband) was beating the shit out of her. I last saw her in a local walmart with her husband (the guy who put her in the hospital) and when my eyes met hers they screamed 'please help me' but I just turned my head, payed for my purchase and walked away. Even years later I feel like such a piece of shit for doing nothing but, I knew at the time she had made her bed and must lay in it.

Was I wrong for just walking away? I was sitting on my friend's porch when I saw her leaving her new house yesterday and my heart sunk, all those old feelings came rushing back. I cant help but think I abandoned her because I did truly love her when we parted and still did when I left her to her new stud. I cant say that I do now because Ive moved on but I feel like such a heel for leaving her to get beaten even though she chose or was even predisposed to this fate (her father was a beater).

Im drunk so maybe Im just emotional.

You cant save everyone. She clearly has psychological issues that need to be dealt with.

Regret isn't worth thinking about.

The choice was taken and if you still feel bad, make it better.

If this regret was a bad decision in your eyes, don't make the same choice again(or this post can deter someone else from making the same one). I personally think if you ever see her again, talk.

There's nothing you can to to help someone like that. She sounds like she needs psychotherapy. I have an ex, that's similar. She left me to go back to a guy that she said "treated her like shit". I know she tended to put herself in shady situations. She cried to me about it as we lay in bed together many times. But she went back to him. She couldn't stand to be treated nice. She needs a bad dude to yell at her and tell her she's worthless. Just have to accept it.

Never have, but it would be really strange, lots of issues that only therapy can help.

Sometimes people go through things and instead of growing and moving on, they attach and it becomes the only thing that can accept. It takes strength to grow, some people don't know they have it.
