Actually, I believe, if he wished to use a comma and a conjunction to create two separate clauses in that sentence, then he should have inserted a personal pronoun to create a proper subject for the second clause.

Example: "but I can't because it's against the rules."

I think that should rectify the situation nicely...

No thanks are necessary. It's all part of a day's job for Sentence Repair Man... :smile:

The "I" was unspoken, but well understood by the average reader. I suggest the offending mod be made to wear a sign around his neck that reads"Bad mod, no doughnut!".

I don't know... I take my pronoun use about as seriously as I do my subject-verb agreement...

This "implied pronoun", eye-of-the-beholder, value-relative, crap is just another excuse for the failed, if-it-feels-good-do-it, hedonism of the sixties... It's the suits vs. the dungarees all over again...

Bullshit! If there are two clauses, and only one subject, a reasonable assumption would be that the second clause, which is missing a subject entirely, concerns the only subject which exists in the entire sentence as a whole!

And please don't even bother to retort, because as everyone knows, my asshole can squeeze out millions of dollars of diamonds faster than a towelhead can press "send" on a cellphone!

i mean really. first of all, "magic boy" is a shitty name. it is appropriate for this particular poster because it is a shitty poster, but i do not think the artist had this thought progression in mind. and the poster on the right... ok, we get it, blond girls, pictures of the galaxy, and manga-tech sell movies. but i would think that the "artist" that did this one would have a shred of self respect and not sell out at every chance.
