Okay. Look. There's a SEARCH function on the boards for a reason. Use it. There are also many documents on the shroomery for a reason. If you had read ANY of them you would realize that using birdseed or any grain without a pressure cooker is STUPID. Any questions?

Hi Jerry95,
Here's the scoop. Pressure cookers cook at a higher temperature then boiling water. And when you're dealing with birdeed, rye, etc. There are more places for contaminates to hide. If you're dealing with a brown rice/verm substrate, boiling is fine.

Pressure cooking with birdseed or almost any "seed" of some kind is practically necessary in order to kill all the possible contaminates.

What other nutrient could be added to a rice/verm. cake to have a healthy fruiting? Remember, I am boiling.
