contaminated jar rejuvination...
    #567260 - 03/01/02 08:51 PM (23 years, 2 months ago)

would it be possible to re-pressure cook a contaminated jar with the contaminated substrate, and kill all the mold spores or bacteria? I forgot to boil the water i used to make the syringes with so i got 100% contamination. Just wondering if any one had tried this, before i throw away all this substrate.

Won't you kill all the mycelium as well as the bacteria? I sure wouldn't do it.

that's what i'm trying to do so that i can reuse the substrate (kill all bacteria, mold, and mycelium; then inject new spores)

wouldn't it be just as easy to make up new substrate?

If you want to keep the jars, open them under water in a 10%bleach solution. It would be a waste of spores to put them into jars that you know already contain contaminants. I don't like your chances of being able to re-sterilize contaminated substrate.
