That seems like a good timing but make sure you don't run over as consuming the foul tasting material becomes extremely hard when the nautia kicks in at around 45 mins to 1h after ingestion.

Explain to me what drying it and then freezing it would accomplish.

Water expands when you freeze it. He suggested that you freeze the cutting so the water in the cactus expands and the cell walls burst, kinda like leaving a can of soda in the freezer too long. I really don't see the point in drying the cactus out and then trying to freeze it. That would be like opening up a soda can, pouring out all the soda and then sticking the empty can in the freezer and waiting for it to explode. I really can't break it down any simpler.

One suggestion, in addition to using this forum, also go to other websites and make a concerted effort to research and learn about what you're interested in. There is much information to be gained with the help of a search engine. You have been making threads more than most other members recently, and in those threads you many times have several posts back to back just full of questions. Some of those question would be answered pretty easy if you did the research on your own. A bunch of your questions also deal with obscure ethnobotanicals that very few people besides the natives that live in the plant's native habitat have substancial knowledge of. Even if you attempt to research, you'll probably find nothing or very little, and the reports you find may be conflicting. People aren't answering your questions sometimes not because they are ignoring you or don't see your questions, they're not answering you because the answer isn't to be found. The only way to find out sometimes is to procure the hard-to-find plant somehow, grow it, and find out yourself. Then you can come on here and share your new found information, to which we'll all be grateful.

Not trying to be an ass, just trying to help you out. Peace!

Ya I understand...I just really want to expand the lesser known entheogens into the mainstream. At one point in history nobody knew about ayahuasca, but then somebody started asking questions and eventually it was brought to the western world. I just wish everyone had some Diplopterys and pandanus growing in there back yards ...maybe one day!

I'm going with the drying, then grinding/smashing method...I'll let you know how it goes...

Williamsii, I've never had ANY sort of sickness on cactus...Do you not smoke marijuana, eat mint or ginger, or take any other anti-nausea precatuions?

P.S.- I'm sorry if i annoy any of the knowledgeable people on the shroomery, If you think I'm an idiot please don't view or respond to any of my post, thanks- Teotzlcoatl

Now that I think about it more, I think the pedro would be easier to consume if frozen... So here's what I've decied to do...

Peel all the skin off
Cut out every spin
Cut off the green outer layer
Discard most of the white interior
Dry cactus chunks
Freeze cactus chunks
Fast 7+ hours
Swallow frozen cactus chunks (over 20-40m)
Smoke cannabis, consume mint and ginger

Even if it doesn't "break the cell walls" or whatever, i think it will be easier to consume...what do you guys think?

But you said you only
Quote:
have done one low dose of mescaline before

Even mescaline itself causes nausea and it is pretty intense. I have found marijuana helps with nausea on shrooms but while experienceing the serious lead stomach of cactus nausea I haven't been in a fit state to smoke. Other than one time when the dose was to low to get any real nausea. I have never bothered with any other anti-nausea precautions.

As to the preperation, I have already given my opinion that insufficitiant preperation will simply cause a weaker trip. Why are you drying the cactus though? It seems kind of futile.

Excuse me but I think we have all been courteous and have answered your questions in depth. You are asking us for advice and yet you are being disrespectful. Most of this information is available through a quick google search, so maybe you should try doing some more research yourself.

It seems to me that you care more about how much you are injesting than the trip itself.

O, I'm very sorry if i came off as disrespectful, Thank you very very much for your help, You are very knowledgeable, thank you again.

You said "It seems to me that you care more about how much you are ingesting than the trip itself."

What do you mean by this? I am going to only eat the very thin green outer layer instead of doing a water infusion with the whole cacti, I think it will be a fairly small amount....what did you mean by that comment? Thanks- Teotz'

Once again, drying and then freezing is pointless because there's no liquid in the cactus to freeze. That's like putting beef jerky in the freezer, it's not gonna do anything of any value.

What do you guys mean by that??? I don't understand, I want to eat a small amount, and have a good trip, not a hard trip, but a good one...

I was thinking freezing it would help it just slide down my throat and taste less like...cactus! But ya there would be no water, It'd just be cold.

And by the way I wanna say again- You guys are really smart and I truly thank you for the help!

As explained earlier, it is very unlikely that you will have a hard trip. My comment was in reference to how you wanted to prepare your cactus for consumption. It seemed to me that the aim of your preparation was to ingest the least amount rather than to achieve the best trip possible.

Quote:
it reduces the amount of what i have to eat, I believe...

This was your sole reason for wanting to dry the cactus, to reduce the amount you have to ingest.

I would have felt that the trip was more important. You could even only get minimal effects if you don't prepare properly. Once I didn't prepare the cactus properly and I only got borderline effects from a 12" slice of cactus. Of course there are other variables affecting the trip but the preparation had a large contribution.

The strange thing is that with my method you only end up with a glass of liquid. Liquid is easier to get down and the taste washes away well with a swig of grapefruit juice.

Quote:
I was thinking freezing it would help it just slide down my throat and taste less like...cactus! But ya there would be no water, It'd just be cold.

Surely freezing it wouldn't make any difference if it was bone dry. Also, have you ever tried swallowing a dry powder? A lot will be stuck in your mouth and will absorb the water, becoming the extremely bitter sludge that is cactus taste.

For me the ingestion is part of the ritual of the trip. It is something to overcome to begin the trip. Any throwing up is purging of my body. For me this is integral to the experience so it just seems peculiar to me that you are trying so hard to avoid the taste, at the cost of the quality of the trip itself.

I actually have eaten cacti twice before...both times this way, both times with effects, one time slight, one time fairly profound- I walked thought a forest of diamond lights...it was crazy, but so serene so still so calm, not like shrooms which can be scary and jumpy/hyper...it took about 3 hours to come up and last the peak lasted about 2 hours, then 4-6 hours coming down...the best way I could describe it to someone who has not done cactus is that it felt like XTC and shrooms taken at the same time and that last twice as long...but without the "hyper" feeling XTC and shrooms give... It was probably the best experience of my life...I think trichocereus cacti is my favorite entheogenic plant... I would like to mix it with about a gram of shrooms this time if I can find some...I will consider your method will...thanks everyone

P.S.- I never get an nausea from cactus...I wonder why I don't any you do...prep' or precatuion? Do you smoke cannabis with your cacti?
