did it stop raining? you need to spend some time scoring the fuck out of that field.
did it hell stop raining! since they started flowering it has rained heavily most days... theres a big patch of poppies rotting in the low part of the field due to flooding, the majority are fine... but we are forecast 2 inches of rain for tomorrow in my county...

xk3m_indica said: it's the same down here in tasmania, we have fucking paddocks everywhere (only place in aus that grows poppies as far as I know) here are some pics of a field on my way to work.
are those thibaine poppies?

Sorry for flashing these pics around so much, i should prolly stop now
ive seen them once or twice before i think no such warning signs posted round the fields here though... tasmania is about the only place in aus where the climate is cool enough for poppies i guess... never got that far south, all my family are from queensland.
thebaine... had to look it up but still i have no clue! could you explain the difference please?
i had them down as gig's but someone on another forum suggested they may be tassie's... wot do u think they are?

well they look like pretty much the same type of poppy we have down here. Really white/pink/purplish flower.
My friend's dad won the TasAlkaloids Crop of the Year away for his poppy fields. He showed me his secret (there is really no big underground drug thing for poppies down here) and took me to the pump house. It was a small shed next to this huge dam and he opened the door and lo and behold there were about 50 25kg sacks of pure nitrogen crystals sitting there. I'm not shitting you these poppies came up to my shoulders and the heads on them were the size of tennis balls they were fuckin enormous. This was like 5 years ago though and he's since moved elsewhere but still grows poppies no doubt. All poppy fields (like the one in the pics above) are just pretty average.
Tergaon told me that Thebaine poppies are genetically modified to produce a certain chemical that is used in some kind of painkiller, can't remember what it was (have to check my pm's) but they are basically just grown purely for medical use.
This season I might just try some myself, fuckk nows there's plenty to go around

id say its a fair bet that they are GM poppies...

(paramorphine) is an opiate alkaloid. A minor constituent of opium, thebaine is chemically similar to both morphine and codeine, but has stimulatory effects, with strychnine-like convulsions, rather than depressant effects. Thebaine is not used therapeutically, but is converted industrially into a variety of compounds including oxycodone, oxymorphone, nalbuphine, naloxone, naltrexone, buprenorphine and etorphine.
