UFO Panel on Larry King
    #7175565 -

Note: from memory, not exact quote.

At the end of the show Larry asks the skeptic, "Are you sure your position is right?" The skeptic responds "Certainly not, but I would need empirical evidence to get me change my stance."

Larry repeats the question to the believer. He responds, "No, well... yes I am."

Hmmmm, which one is more open-minded?

None.
Both of them answered that question the way they did because of their thinking patterns

True, but Orgone was asking about them in comparison, as in which one was MORE open-minded. I would say that indeed the skeptic was more open-minded, as he allowed for the possibility of his being incorrect.

But obviously openmindedness is more than that, otherwise openmindedness is just ignorance.

What if the guy did see a UFO? Then whose more openminded:grin:

If one has a pattern in going late to work and one morning his workplace is set on fire, and he was not there yet, can you say that he was inspired? :strokebeard:

He did not. He was the son of Jesse Marcel and only heard about it second hand.

Stan Friedman was another non-witness/believer. He is trying to sell his NEW book on Barney & Betty Rubble, er Hill, based on yet another second-hand report from a relative (niece?) of Betty's.

Another non-witness believer not motivated by money
was the producer of a UFO documentary (Blue Skies?)

Ok well that wasnt my point.

Whose more openminded, someone who is unsure if pingpong balls exist, or someone who provides anecdotal evidence that he saw one.

Im saying that if a scale of openmindedness is somehow demonstrated in your first post, then the more ignorant you are, the more openminded you are.

There is not enough information in your example to come to a conclusion.

The words of a sage are often confusing. Are you a Swami?

The words of a Swami are meant to inspire awe by the power of nebulous verbiage.  If he were a Swami, his words would be even more confusing.

You did not answer my question which was:
Would daytripper's exact statements mean more if they were said by a swami? :strokebeard:

If his statements were those of a Swami, they would have more meaning to those who seek meaning in the meaningless. Since I am not one of those, the meaning would remain unaffected by his level of Swaminess.

As have I. A UFO is any unidentified object. Any yahoo can see one of those.
