One of my long time friend's boyfriend was recently locked up for possession and nearly joined the South Siders, he had to move away from Florida to here in order to escape all the banging bullshit.

I hope your boo gets out soon, he sounds like a cool cat.

Same shit but different gangs. This guy has the mentality that once he gets caught up fucking his life up he's going to do a 180 and turn straight - he did with the gang thing but drugs usually follow people wherever they move to.

Gangs around here usually aren't what the media cracks them up to be either IMO - sure once in a while a banger will shoot a cop in the face but there's not a chance of them taking over like Fox News or local news stations would have you believe.

depends on what area you are referring to
east LA is primarily latino gangs
torrance mainly asian gangs

my dad used to live within a couple miles of watts, south central back when he didnt have a car... he said the bus got robbed so often, the bus driver wouldnt ever bother calling the police LMAO. my dad was also chased down by random fools while walking around there a few times... he outran them all each time though cause my dad is the SHIT nukka!!!! hes also seen at least 1 black guy shoot some asian guy at a gas station, and 1 act of police brutality who opened fire on some drunk rowdy hispanic dude (but not actually hurting anybody) and killed him

lol i went to a party in compton once... i got left there by my LAME ASS dealer and so i said "fuck this! gime a 40oz of old E!!!!" its amazing how many black people will suddenly respect you when those words come out of your mouth LOL. "dayummm... she gangsta!!!!"
then another time i walked around completely shitfaced screaming our asses off with 3 friends. nothing happened to us though. lol. i know the medias a crock of shit, but who knows if i were doing that shit everyday i might be "one dead ass nigga" HAHA

There's shitty people who don't care about the wellbeing of others everywhere you go, it just so happens they're highly concentrated in areas with a large population :shrug:

Personally I've never had any problems walking around in the ghetto (6th and Broadway downtown, Compton/Lynwood/all the other shitty gateway suburbs, shady parts of LB) aside from a few cat calls tossed by passing motorists - as long as you respect people, don't look rich, and mind your own business you'll be fine.

I used to live in the LBC close to compton area and I never had problems. but watts i think, is a special area... i mean its what the scariest place in america? cops would never step foot in there.
