4 things, light, temp drop, humidity, and PATIENCE, if u do all of them, it'll pin

you could cold shock it if you wanted.....but i suppose thats not all that reccomended for a casing.

make that 5, FAE of course, and i supose moisture delivery is pretty important too, damn make it 6.... i gotta quit drinkin before noon...good luck bro, i know you've read it but giving hypae's (sp?) pinning strategy another look could never hurt

Cold shock is nonsense for cubes. Please, everyone, stop recommending it.

4 inches of perlite is FINE. More than you need.

Ok i moved my FC a couple feet away....now its like 7 feet away so thats not a problem...

i tested my hygrometer and it appears it is off by 8%, so i recaliberated it...although that doesnt count for the 74%!! that means that instead of 74 it was actually 82% which isnt good iether

Do you think Dunking my Casings would help initiate pinning (although before i put the tape of the sides of my containers there was visible moisture on the sides of the containers.

I just dont know whats up....i followed directions to the point....i just hope the casings dont sit there so long they get overlay for because they didnt pin.

Even the smallest cool mist will change humidity a lot.  Cool mist also leaves that stand still water you speak of.  I would dry the perlite a bit.  That can be used as a sponge to absorb that water.  Get a timer for the cool mist if thats the humidifier you choose.  There is a lot of information here about humidifiers.  I would go with an Ultrasonic instead.  It has way less visible moitsure and won't leave as much on the bottom.  The good thing about these is that it is fully automated.  Plus air flow is good.  Not to exepensive.  And if you wanna add more chambers... Hmm... that gets you thinkin a bit... more chambers = more mushrooms lol! good luck

something doesnt sound right reason being is that a cased sub provides humidity.and so does the perlite if there is 4-5 inches of it.either way both provide humidity and should have 100%.hmmmmm i am thinking

naw dont cover the holes.make sure you mist 2 times a day, mist the walls the casing layer, the cakes etc etc.that will help to keep the moisture up and you should be gravy.I never liked the analog ones they give off errors like you wouldnt believe even with my cigars at 70%.i Bought an expensive 60$ hygrometer with a 0.5-1% error rate at high humidity(excess of 90%)and never have had problems and i test it monthly .Might be something you might want to look into later on.

Oh and i know rr is going to come in here saying that analog is the best and to use those but technology is pretty good now a days and they have improved hygrometers over the past 5 years or so.

Digital hygrometers, at least the affordable kind, still fuck up when they get wet. And by "fuck up", I do mean "die".

lol..true thats why i spent so much on mine.I bought mine from a cigar store that my family has gone to for years.I have tested it multiple times and it works very well but also it was a pretty size chunk of change being 60 bucks before tax.now those 10-30 dollars ones yea most of em are cheap plastic crap that isnt worth it.

nice to know; yeah the temperature gauge on mine doesn't work anymore cause it got fucked up. I thought the humidity was messed up to until I took it out and matched it with another. Plus I know gen. humidity range of my house.

After letting ti sit over night with about 50 holes covered. the humidty is now reading 100%! YAY!!... ill just have to make sure that 2 times a day i fan for a little extra FAE and spray at that time for some extra humidity.

Now my only problem will be Light lol...since i moved it away from the Ac vent, i have moved it away from the window....Temp is staying a constant 77 inside the FC which is good...

Will the fumes from the gorilla tape affect the shrooms or FAE anyway? everytime i open to give it FAE, i get a strong smell of gorilla tape lol.

Next grow i have aluminum cooking tubs, which will be better.

I think if you can hit 95%, the FAE is going to be more valuable than the last 5% RH.

The fumes shouldn't hurt it a bit. You really need to work on some passive FAE setup, though, like polyfill and a fan.

Ok slowly over the coarse of the night i will be removing the tape...a couple pieces at a time, till i can get it to stay at 95%.

What other FAE setup should i use lol....besides fannning 2 times a day. its a monotub so i shouldnt have to do much FAE just a little boost every once and a while.

Also i thought RR said polyfill wasnt needed in FC's because mycelium has already gotten a hold by that point and can fight of stuff. also the moving air keep bacteria from manifesting.

with this terrarium you dont need anything such of silly polyfil. All you have to do is fan and mist 2 time a day.

add more perlite next time like an inch to an inch and a half more.also it shouldnt be that big of a problem since you are going to mist and fan 2 times a day.

aight sounds good to me...next time i guess i might as well just fill the FC 1/2 way full lol....that will solve my problem. mmmm i need to buy a spray bottle tomarrow lol....

I put a couple pieced of tape back on...and the humidy shot up to 94 or so....so i guess thats good....i just hope they will fruit soon!
Yes i know patcience is a virtue lol but i put these in the original chamber on the 19th and now its the 27th lol...thats over a week lol...although i do understand that they will need time to recover from all the moving and such. my next set of jars are almost full done colonizing and will be ready as soon as this grow finishes....
