Perlite with air pump question

Looking at 11 jars colonizing nicely (lost one to green mold) and am preparing for birthing. I plan on doing perlite humidification but i don't think i can be around enough to fan 3 times a day. I imagine that this is what the air pump idea is for? Could somebody shed some light on the air pump process for me? Thnx.

Air pump outside, glass with H2O (or H20+H202) inside terrarium. Tube goes inside terrarium, tube is submerged in glass. I let it run 12h.

My friend runs an air pump to his low 2o gal terrarium ,chucked the peri.though because of the type of casings he uses dont need the extra humidity at least at this time ,winter may find him adding sum back to it he just runs the air line to the bottom of the terr.an lets it run 24/7figures it cant hurt ta move sum air around ,but he still fans on a regular basis ,also if you suspend the pump by a string er sum thin it is a lot quieter than letting it set on sum thin .Mew
