Yeah! Why the hell shouldnt you place air pumps in your grow chambers shroomers?? That would efectively suck all the nasty gas which your shrooms hate, wouldnt it?
Could it be so simple and no one talks about it??? WTF???

Good question. Anyone have a reason not to? I'd like to hear it.

Sucking or blowing, that is the question. The idea behind using an air pump is to introduce fresh, preferably filtered air. With the pump on the inside, where will the the fresh air come from? See?

I guess you could have one pump on the inside to suck out the stale air, and another pump on the outside, like regular, for pumping in fresh air. I don't know how well that would work but it's an interesting theory.

I've used that technique.
Seems to work well. Generates a little heat, but I needed it.
I figure the air that comes in just seeps in around the lid, which is not a really airtight seal.

Yes this internal air pump question is interesting. I posted a similair question regarding fans back in December and here is basically the static I got about it.....
Many thought that 'blowing' air out of the terrarium via a fan (or a pump sucking out through an exit hole in this case) would introduce contams by 'sucking' in fresh air through the cracks of the terrarium lid. They're solution was to have a fan (or an external air pump in this case) 'blowing' in fresh air and therefore blowing out all the CO2, and I guess not letting in any contams....
I think it's all bull caca if you ask me, like it would make any difference? God, just opening your lid and manually fanning would and should let in contams too, right? I really don't think that contams are as big of an issue at this point in the cultivation process anyway.
Okay, I'm babbling now, I'll shutup.

instead of putting a fan to blow in fresh air, try just making a hole in the opposite side of terranium with polyfill or a filter patch to help keep out contams. this should allow good enough air flow that very little air will be seeping through the lid, and keep the air pump at the bottom so it's pumping out the heavier Co2. i don't see MUCH benefit of this apposed to having fresh air pumped in from the outside and a hole to let air out on the other side. besides, this would probably increase air pressure in the terranium which might actually help the little guys out.... who knows. :)
