Verm+perlite casing question.

I was just wondering if some of you would recommend casing with perlite as the bottom layer and verm as the top using the PF strain? How many inches thick should the perlite layer be and how thick should the verm layer be? How many cc's of water per cup of verm? Is it neccessary to sterilize the verm? Thanx if you can answer some or all of these qestions.
