perlite tecnique questions
    #904019 -

hey everyone, this is my first time posting something. anyway, this is my second attempt at cultivation. the first time i had BIG problems with contamination, and i used the perlite method. in my current chamber, with the perlite, i cant seem to get the rh above 85%, and 75 degrees--no matter what. i know this is a problem for the actual growing, and i was just wondering what i can do. i've tried all different methods of water saturation, and no matter what, the humidity doesnt go higher than 85% max. am i just worrying for no reason, or is that also the reason my first attempt was unsuccessful? please help

How do you measure the humidity? Did you calibrate your hygrometer?

I am not familiar with humidor hygrometers, but I have read in a couple different posts that some hygrometers have a tough time reading the RH if it is above 85%. So you may be fine, your hygrometer may just be unable to get an accurate reading at that high RH. And I don't think that too low humidity was the cause of your last failure.

with wet pearlite, and a semi sealed (rubbermaid with lid on) environment, you should have 95 to 100% humidity. For you geeks, the temp must be above freezing.
