In my opinion, perlite works much better. Perlite works just as well if not better then hand spraying, and perlite never forgets to give off humidity;-)Its sometimes messy to clean up but I think that the humidity (for lack of a better term) "spreads" more evenly over the terrainum. It does this because the perlite completely covers the bottom of the terrainum. 2 thumbs up for porous volcanic rock;-)

I agree. I just changed my tarrium from duel to perlite humidification. hopefully it works good. I put in 1/2 in. water in about 1 ans 1/4 in. perlite. is this not enough? and I didn't bake it first or put in Hydrogen peroxide. will this contaminate my cakes?

If you leave perlite wet for long enough, it will grow mold/mildew. I recommend adding household bleach to your perlite, around 2500 PPM should be more than sufficent. If you are using household bleach this is about 1 part bleach to 20 parts water. At this concentration the mixture will fully sterilize surfaces after about 45-60 minutes. A 5000 PPM solution will contact sterilize in about 30 minutes. If you find this to be too strong, it should be quite safe to reduce the concentration even more, once the perlite is sterilized, it should not require very much bleach to keep it that way.

I switch to perlite and it turned out to be the best thing I did in reagard to growing. It gave me greater yeilds, and larger shrooms.------------------ Trying to rationalize with an irrational person, is in itself irrational!

No DrewDog but it will smell before too many flushes come through. Just add some h202.I'd avoid bleach. For some reason, it seems evil to put cakes near bleach to me. I know h202 won't kill mycellium.
