Perlite humidification

I use the perilite humidification in my fruiting chamber, but i only added about 1/4 cup of water to the perlite. Its a good sized fruting chamber, about 3 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 1.5 feet high. I have 5 cakes in the chamber and my digital hygdrometer reads 99 percent humidity. Im worried that my hygdrometer is off beacuse everything i have read about perlite humidification says about 1/4 inch of water should line the bottom of the chamber. I have 1/4 cup, which might be 1/20 iinch of water in the friuting chamber. Coulld the humidity realsed from the cakes plus the half cup of water be enough to keep the humidity that high, or is my hygdrometer taking wrong readings?

May not be a matter of if it's 99 percent or not but how long will it last?
